Thanks.  Shepa's post right before the one in the link you gave mentions the pushrod seal also being done from the outside.  I think I'm going to have to take the sprocket off anyway to get to the screws on that little cover plate, so I may replace the CS seal too just to be safe.

I just got done doing the CS oil seal.  I used a small flathead screwdriver and just kept working it from the top right and she finally came loose.  After I put the new one on (lubed with frsh oil inside and out), I noticed that the inner lip on the lower laft side had protruded out, I used a slightly bigger flathead to ease it back in place and all looks good.  For the record, I did not replace the inner oil seal, although I have it sitting here in the tool box.  Looked to me like I would have to split the cases to get to the inner seal because it was pretty deep in there.  I didn't take any pics either....sorry buddy.

I refilled with oil, warmed it up and put the bike in 1st gear on the center stand and let it run in gear for about a minute,.......hopefully there will be no oil drips in the morning.......to be on the safe side, I will put an old cookie pan underneath to catch any oil if it happens.

Thanks.  Sounds like it went pretty well.

No problem on the pics -- I was really interested in whether this could be done without taking the left side cover off so I'd know whether to order a new cover gasket along with the seals, and how straightforward it looked to be.  Looks like the gasket won't be needed.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, too.

I have bigger problems now.....I pulled the cam cover to check valve specs and noticed that the two right side cam journal caps are both cracked!  Fak!
