2009 GS500F. Need info, please

So the story goes that I got my wife into riding a few years ago.  Started on a Hyosung, graduated to a V-Star 950.  I ride a Harley Fat Bob and a Yamaha FJR 1300.  Best of both worlds and all that.  My wife wanted to try the FJR, but it is a little tall for her.  So, to find a bike that is a closer fit, we come across this GS500F still new on the showroom.  It is late 2010 at this time.  They make a good deal for us and off we go.  Problem is she doesn't ride it as much as she should and I don't either.  Didn't drain the gas (don't judge me, just hear me out, lol).  Our mechanic cleans out carbs, we take it home...and don't ride it some more.  I pulled the carbs off this time myself.  Have the jets soaking in crab cleaner.  What I really need is a shop manual for this bike and a mess of carb o-rings.  Dealers are closed today, is that the best place for said items?  Any ideas?  Oh yeah...all this and it doesn't even have 1700 miles on it yet.  Yikes

The dealer or some sort of online OEM Suzuki parts retailer is your best bet.  One alternative option would be to go to Harbor Freight Tools and buy a metric O-Ring set.  Make sure it's Nitrile...don't buy a plumbing O-Ring set, or the gas will eat right through them.  Here's a picture:



A shop manual...Haynes is pretty good.  I have one that covers through 2008.  2009 is essentially unchanged from that year.  You may have to order through Amazon.

This happened to me once.  Bought a 2001 Ninja 500 for the wife cause she wanted to learn how to ride.  A year and a half later, she put less than 1000 miles on it (360 of those were me riding it home from Chicago where we bought it).

One day in the car she said "I don't use it enough, sell."  Gone 7 days later.

I know what you are saying.  It's really a fun bike to ride.  Doesn't have the power of the FJR, obviously, but man oh man is it fun in the twisties!!  That little rascal loves to lean into a curve.  I'll clean up the carbs once more and get her running.  Then we will have to see.  Down here in Texas we don't have to winterize our bikes, we just ride them year round.  Case in point.  here it is Dec 3rd and it's going to be around 80 degrees.  80!!
And I really do feel bad about letting the carbs get this way.  That's on me.  Should have drained the gas or something.  Does anyone add fuel stabilizer to their gas?

I would seafoam the hell out of any gas I put in that thing. And drain the bowls every time you put it in the garage.

I would at a minimum put in Seafoam, or Stabil... it won't hurt it, and can only help.  I use stabil on every tank in every motor all year other than my daily work truck... my two mowers, two mopeds, gs500, go-cart... I just never know how much time I'll get to play with them or when i'll have to mow the grass next (very dry summer here), so I'm always prepared for any one of them to sit.
