Pic a bit fuzzy Mr. Northwest.  Is that a 500 or 700cc from Honda?

I like both...that or a Strom 650 might be my next ride when the GS dies of an oil death (Don't most die that way?)
Bikeless and Broke at the moment...

NortwestRider

It's a 700X,I traded in my DL1000 for it .

Apart from that ugly thing the light and license plate is connected to I love that bike :thumb:

Yes,I agree about the tail light.I'm leaving it alone untill we get back from Alaska.
I got the the rack done and the bags mounted.Making the bags detachable so we can carry them into the motel took some thought be I figured it out.
So next weekend I need to bolt the rack on and weld on the hwy pegs to the crash bars and DORA is road ready!!.
I will mount up the TKC80's a few weeks before we leave ( 1st of June ).

Here's the finished rack and bags. The rack turned out great and VERY strong.

And the relocated turn signals, they didn't fit with the bags on in the stock position.I will seal the ends up with silicone after they are wired back up.

Stop over next weekend if you can. Its going to be a full weekend of wrenching and making GS500 videos with Brian as we upgrade Quin.

EXCELLENT work. youve got a bike where the bags serve two purposes. storage :) and the handles can work as shaZam! handles for your pillion.  ( shaZam! handles is a term we use here. for the handle in a car you grab when driver gets too aggressive lol) btw a suggestion. regarding the signals. put some type of sealant where the wires pass through the mounting nuts. water&electrics = dammit lol

+1 there. fill the signal with silicon at the end or you will have problems :thumb:

:thumb: I am liking those engine guards, did you make them? They look really good, maybe add some recessed louvers for the front bash guard to let more air in?

adidasguy

SW Motec engine guards.
I have some and a set of chrome ones and a few other types in the Bike Cave. Can show you this weekend.

very nice build !

how about a seperate thread about the honda you picked up ? i'd really like your take on it's handling, power, and fueling (fueling is so freaking important on EFI bikes!), and compare/contrast to other bikes (gs included) you've ridden and owned.

i could care less about 0-60 times and HP ratings. tell us how it RIDES. ok ? :)

are you fitting ds tires on this purple wonder before the trip  ? sorry if i missed that part :)

Yes the the GS ( and the NCX )are getting TKC80's up front and K60's rear.If your not into HP and 0-60 times you would love the NCX!!.
It's about the same HP as the GS500 ( about 48 ) BUT it's a 100% different kind of power.All it's torque is around 2,500 rpm's and it red lines at 6,500 rpm's.
