1/4 is what the stock throttle tube on the gs is, right?

That IDK. Silly me, I didn't check what I had before I took it off but you can see the difference in the cams in the pics so there is SOME difference

Does the external appearance match pretty well with your left grip?

I did the same thing on an '07GS500F in the spring after it had sat all winter. Couldn't say there was much difference in 'response', but it was nice to be able to get WOT in one go.

Our tube is already 1/4 turn.

However, weed, you can now use an adapter if you want to go 1/5:

I can get to full throttle in one twist now that I have clubmans on my bike. But that SV tube does sound interesting... I hate having to move my wrist so much!

Unless I am mistaken, stock GS is 1/4. SV650 is 1/5, and R6 is 1/6.

I know 2nd gen SV650's can use the R6 tube. A friend of mine had it on his and it was great. Be interesting to put that on the GS, but I don't think it will fit.

Yeah, I guess it's been updated since Pablo put the link up. I'm sure you can still find one somewhere, though.

Again...response is not the issue. Being able to open the throttle all the way without having to reposition your grip to get the last bit is the point.

Just looked it up, and according to http://www.svrider.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-107524.html the 2nd gen '03-'04 Yamaha R6 1/6 tube fits the 1st + 2nd gen SV650. Since the 1st gen SV650 1/5 tube fits the GS500, you should be able to use the 2nd gen '03-'04 R6 1/6 tube on the GS500.

Yeah, that was mainly my thing too being my clips ons are much lower than the oem bars

I'm not talking about the response, i'm talking about the throw. It feels pretty much the same, still have to contort your wrist for WOT

Response/throw should be synonymous. 1/4 means you need to turn the throttle a full quarter turn, 1/6 means you have to pull it 1/6 of a turn, which will give you both "better response" and reduce throw.
