i'm about to buy some motorcycle pants, and due to my very slender build i need to choose between either having a pair that's about 1" too long, or that's about 2" to wide in the waist. which do i go with here? :dunno:

dgyver

Pants 1" too long can be altered to fit. Plus they will ride up when sitting. Also, while sitting on a bike and leaning forward, your stomach pushes out a little (at least for some of us) and the 2" extra is more comfortable or they could a taken up at the waist.
Common sense in not very common.

Do you mean 1" too short?  It seems to get the waist to fit, the legs would be too short.... eh?

Don't you mean new and needs improving wit...?

I like the old Srinath myself: more information and less dry humor.

Like dgyver said, they'll probably ride up a bit so 1" too long is probably about right. I think I heard somewhere that motorcycle pants are actually cut  a little long for  that reason. The important thing to look for is that if they were too long the knee protection may not end up in correc t position-that.s more important than if the legs are too long at the ankle. If they're textile overpants they're likely to be a little long.

The Alpinestars leather pants I have are a *little* too tight in the waist  but the next size up left the knee protection near my shins for some reason. watch for that.

If you have trouble with fit for your slender build (as I do) you might consider another brand of pants...maybe something european. I find they're usually built for a slimmer build where american/canadian pants are made bigger.
