Hey guys i have a gas leak, started about a week ago. Well, i found the problem, its coming from the bottom hose of the air box.
Is it supposed to have fuel in it?
It was cut in half and taped together with aluminum tape.
could i just cap it or should i replace the condom end thingy?
Thanks guys
Rub some dirt in it, you'll be fine!

Thats not supposed to have fuel.  Your carb has likely overflowed from either stuck floats, or bad needle valve seats.  Make sure your fram fuel petcock is not on prime.

Check your oil.  Make sure it does not smell like gas.  If it does, then you will have to change the oil.  But find out why your carbs overflowed before you change the oil.  Gas in the oil will lower its lubrication properties... which is bad news for an engine that is touchy with low lubrication like the GS500.

You can remove the air filter and look in the air box to see which carb is barfing up gas into the box.

You should replace the hose. The pee pee thing on the end lets it drain but not let air back in. With an open hose end, you would have an open air port into the air box on the carb side of the air filter. Dirt can get sucked in.

You should be able to find used ones pretty easy.

Thanks for the advice, guys. I have my bike in the shop right now but its all good. Was a sticky float needle. It'll be around 200 bucks, parts and labor. I get a discout at my shop. Two carb kits and a jet kit. Its getting rejetted cuz of the yoshi slip-on that on it. Next is getting my fork seals done. Seams easy enough or for alittle under 100 smackers i can have my shop do it.
