hey guys ive had my gs for about a month and still not got it on the road ive been trying to fix the seals on the rear caliper and over here they are so expensive i was just wondering what other bikes they came on except for bandits? so that i can try source one from somewhere else. or is there another type i could fit possibly thanks guys hope you can help. its a 1989 model

Check your local bike breakers and get one from a newer model with low mileage.

The rear is the same for all years.

The front, while they changed it twice, is compatible. So when the time comes, buy a newer front caliper from a bike wrecked by a squid and don't even bother rebuilding it.

when you say newer even the 2000+ plate ones??

Yep - even my 1992 has 2009 brake calipers on it. I buy ones from newer bikes (I go for 2006+ and low miles) for $15-$25 where the pads are still good and just put them on. No need to rebuild. If the pads are still good, then no need for pads. At that price, you have disposable brake calipers.

Or if don't mind welding, you can move the stay arm to the bottom and use an SV650 rear caliper like I did. No, there's no real reason to, I just had one and was already messing with other stuff.

You will be lucky to pick a caliper up one ebay for less and even luckier to find one at a breaker

There are about 10 on ebay right now. Price and year varies.
Pick the newest and best looking one.
Saves all the effort of rebuilding one.
Your call on whether to buy a good used one re take the time to rebuild an old one.
Given you have an 89, I'd opt for a newer one since all the parts, pistons, etc. would be newer and good for another 10 years.

Your call. Just trying to help.
