Honda has a sweet 250. All Suzuki had was the retro TU250. People want style (but not so much as to be fugley like the gheydius).
Now that Honda also has the new 500, Suzuki better get in gear.
Kawasaki has a 250 (no more 500)
If Suziki doesn't have a decent 250-500 range of bikes, they will lose out. People want economy and style for daily short commuting. and we are too civilized to stoop so low as to ride a scooter. We need bigger wheels.

Suzuki does show the GW250 for the US. Still notihng in the 400-500 range other than the DR. Looks like Honda will dominate the 250-500 range now.

3rd thread on this bike  :icon_mrgreen:

Good thing about this bike is, size-wise it is close to the GS500. So all it needs to be a 500 is a larger power plant. If Suzuki is/was smart, what they did was make a 500 engine and sleeve it to be a 250 - also Z7750, Z1000 and F8/F1 style. So once they finish getting ride of their excess GS500 stock, release the newer version. Time will tell, cause Suzuki is keeping silent about it.

Honda has the edge this year with the 2013s.  Have you seen the CB1100?  Retro, modern touches, and wicked fast.

I like the Honda CB500 variants.  C'mon Suzuki...I know the American Suzuki car thing has been keeping you busy, but we want more than 109ci behemoth cruisers, and a millionth edition GSX-R.  The 250 is nice, but where's the 500?  Longer stroke, and you are there.

I don't have a particular brand preference. I ended up buying a Suzuki because it made sense at the time. Sadly, Suzuki hasn't made anything since I bought my GS that has me pawing at my wallet. There's nothing definitively wrong with their current models--but nothing amazing either.

Finally some performance info for the GW250, on par with the CBR250R, both behind the Ninja 250.  But only naked one of the lot.

I'd love a fuel injected water cooled GS500. But of course, everyone's looking for 'the next new thing' and not an improvement on something that's already good  :icon_rolleyes:

Makes a good touring bike in some parts of the world.   :)

The GW250S model, profile looks much better with upper fairing.  Hides the radiator area protrusion of the naked model.  Just checking these out while sitting here waiting for the new 500cc twin engine that we all know will be added.  :thumb:

I remember it, was sold here thru 2010 model year.  Use to sit on it at the big bike show, it was bigger feeling than the Rebel and other 250 cruiser types except that giant one from Hyosung.  :icon_lol:  That thumper engine updated and with EFI lives on in the current TU250X.

I had a Nighthawk 250 and it was great to get me to and from college when I commuted, but that little 3 mile stretch of highway to get to the back roads... ugh. Not like I can blame an 18hp bike though. Going from a top speed of ~65 in perfect conditions to ~110 on the gs was a HUGE breath of fresh air and opened up the ability for me to actually go long distances on highways/interstates.

Reliably got 65+ mpg wrung out and was absurdly flickable. But a 10 mpg drop and a bit larger turn radius is little compared to what I gained with the gs.

Badot and yamahonkawazuki, I know a gal from Kentucky from other mc forums who came to one of our Smoky Mtn ride get togethers who was riding 2 up (Mom on back) on a big VLX600.  <G> Her first bike after a scooter start was a Rebel 250.  She put 160k miles on that Rebel including 2 trips to the west coast from KY.  A Rebel and NH250 have same engine and performance I think only ones a standard and ones a cruiser.

After a couple teen-age jalopies my first brand new car was a 1960 VW Beetle so perhaps that colored my outlook on cars and bikes, like small but fun.   :icon_lol:

A 2000 model year GZ250 was my first bike.  Drove it 900 miles, and upgraded to a Vulcan 800.  Sold it 9/11/01 (yes, nine-eleven) to some guy who paid me in 5s and 10s.
