hey guyz and galz, I'm replacing my head, and heard something about replacing a metal gasket between the jugs and head? and possibly replacing crush washers? input would be appreciated.

Yep. Replace all of that because they get torque and "crushed"

It can be done without new copper washers.  Case in point right here.  But yeah if you want to be sure, get the new ones.

Sorry, been away for a while. No, hardware store washers won't do.

If you're replacing you head you can get away by cutting it right bellow the chin, you won't need to replace the jugs (Jugular veins I assume). As for the gaskets, just have a towel in hand to take care of leaks and blood will act as a liquid gasket before you know it.
Just be sure the new one is working ok,  if not you cannot make one good out of two damaged...don't ask me how I know it...

BTW, buy the copper washer in a auto/suzuki store, the other ones won't work even knowing that they all look alike.

One more thing, it gets much easier with an extra pair of hands!
