A sensor for objects passing through the gap. Probably  optical or IR sensor.
This. Definitely optical. Probably IR.

<edit>
Just realized I jumped the gun assuming pliskin's response was Kiwi's confirmation of my guess. Sorry about that!

Carry on Adidas!

Not the cookie (but bonus if you guess the brand).

I can guess the Oreo, in terms of the other widget - some sort of key for releasing / diassembling a piece of equipment?

(It looks sort of similar to a high voltage switch interlock key I have which allows you to open the equipment cabinet without tripping the switch open)

adidasguy

1. Not a real Oreo. better tasting knock-off but from/by whom?
2. Close.

yamahonkawazuki

Used to release a stereo from a car mounting? now the cookie,
is it a joe joe's? ( from trader joes)

pliskin

It's a key to open the interior doors of your house. Push it in those little holes in the doorknob.

Or

To open a CD/DVD door without power.
Why are you looking here?

adidasguy

CD/DVD drive thingy. Probably could work on a bathroom door.
