Indeed it is Mojo! .. away ye go! :thumb:

Elmojo

I've never actually seen one of that exact design before. The ones we have around here have a carbide wheel on the end.

Okay gents, give this a try...
It's the yellow thing, not the SD card beside it, that's just for scale.
This is another one of those things you either know or don't, so I'm looking for a fairly specific answer.

I have no idea what that is, so no. lol

axexandru

I think it's a small cap for something, but i don't know what .....

Yeah mojo... until I saw this one all.I knew of was the wheel end type, but the little point is carbide and a tiny bit of industrial diamond apparently.... is a bit easier to use than the wheel one IMO ....

That yellow thing. .. reminds me of battery caps on little 6v acid jobs.... but it hollow. ... so... no idea! Lol

Elmojo

Looks like I picked a good one!

Hint: It doesn't really DO anything on its own, but you'll be glad you have one in certain circumstances.
Now that I think of it, that's not very helpful... lol
Another hint: It gets lost/discarded/forgotten pretty frequently.

axexandru

Could it be a fiber optic patch cord protector, or a switch port hole protector, or a swicth expantion port protector, you know, the hole where the sfp goes ....

Elmojo

Not exactly any of those, but VERY close.
It is indeed a port protector/dust cover, but for what type of port specifically?...
It's not anything too esoteric. All of us probably have a device that uses this type of port.

rj11?

Now your just hitting the key board randomly. But, I guess if a room full of chimps will eventually type Shakespeare, then we can eventually guess this mystery bit. Is it a bjug9u24bkas?   :icon_lol:

Be aware, this is not very wise advise!

Elmojo

Yep!
It's a port cap for the phone line on my printer/fax machine.

Ok axe, take it away...

axexandru

Pen tip for size referance. The actual thing is longer, it has about 20 cm, this is a part of it, it has around 2 cm.

Pretty sure I know what that is.... But I've got too much on my list at the moment to search up a replacement.. So I'll leave it alone  ;)

'Correct' name is piggy tail bit! ... coiled ... pffft ;) ;) lol

Elmojo

Hahaha right!
Oddly enough. some antennas are actually called pigtail coils. Not sure that sort of antenna this one is.
Maybe axe will post a photo of the whole thing. *Hint hint*
