:dunno_black:

Stainless does stretch....MORE than high tensile does, the clue is in the name. Check some torque figures for similar sized stainless and high tensile bolts  :dunno_black:

Every time you remove, refit and tighten up those header bolts you weaken the thread in the head.

Get some M8 x50 12.9 high tensile plated cap head screws, cut the heads off, dress the end off and screw the studs into the head with plenty of loctite, then use M8plated nuts to hold the header flange in place on the studs and tighten to about 375lbs. Put anti-seize on if you wish, personaly I cant see any need but if you do reduce the figure to about 285lbs.

Now you dont and never will have to remove and refit the bolt in the head so there is zero chance of the thread becoming weak or stripping and because and because the nut and stud are plated and of similar metals they wont corode together.

You could even use lockwashers or double up the nuts if you think something is going to loosen off.

Thanks all. Think I will go with making the studs that will be a good project for the holiday weekend.  What your thoughts on going ahead and changing the crush washers on the pipes or you think they are ok.
