Passenger-compatible saddlebags?

Hey all,

I'm planning a couple of weekend trips next year, and am trying to find a pair of saddlebags that don't interfere with the passenger pegs, since I'll have a passenger riding with me.

Any recommendations you guys can offer on saddlebags that leave the passenger pegs accessible would be great - I'd like to get as much storage space as is possible while still leaving the pegs unobstructed.

Thanks!

That's a tough one since most will be in the way.

Try searching Courtech or Saddlemen.  I'd start there.  You can also convince your passenger to wear a backpack.

Take the Ventura ones off the list as they will certainly be in a pillion's way.

Have you considered a Rear GIVI case?  I bought one along with a tank bag and my wife and I packed two days worth of stuff.  I wanted hard saddlebags but I couldn't find anything other than the soft bags that would interfere with the passenger.

My wife rides on the back with my soft Courtech bags on.  But she prefers to have them off because the straps go across her seat and it's not as comfortable.

Be aware, this is not very wise advise!

Which bags are these, specifically?

Do they happen to be these, or similar? Being able to 2-up with these would be a plus.

I just checked mine, Motocentric Sport bags.  In the standard position the pillion pegs can't be used.  If I'm desperate for a passenger, I can slide the bags back an inch or two, but there's not much back there behind the turn signals to attach the straps to.  Although, I'm probably no help at all now that I think about it.... I have GSXR pegs and brackets.

Those bags in the 4 sale section are the Courtech Tourmaster saddle bags.  I have the Cortech Sport saddle bags.  I have the front straps attached to the rear section of the passenger footrest supports and the rear straps are tied to each other and run between the tail light and the license plate.  That was the only way I could get everything back far enough so that I could take a passenger.  The mount is very sturdy, but will scratch the paint (ALL soft luggage will eventually scratch some paint).  The only time my bags are off is when I'm taking my seat off, so that doesn't bother me.

Nice set of pics here, Slack. Just for info, the Ventura saddle bags sit much lower, sorta hunker down in front of the indicator stalks. She's not really a bike suited for pillion and luggage. I'm off on a trip middle of the month, and I'm cutting down on the camping gear, this time. Going minimal and maybe bunk up at a motel here and there too.

ohgood

get a givi/whoever trunk, mount it so she can have a backrest. you won't have to worry as much about people getting into things then either.

the wife never liked riding the gs with saddlebags near her feet. the fz was better, but still not great with soft saddle bags.
