Aren't bikes more expensive down there because they have to put the steering on the right side?

:flipoff:

Hehe, got a chuckle out of me.

I don't really know anything on the subject but the difference in price from US to AUS could be due to different import taxes and tariffs. It might cost more to import from Japan in AUS than US.....and also, I could just be talking out my butt!  :D

It could also be that the gubbamint hates Motorcyclists because we don't pay as much for fuel and shaZam!, so they have to jack up the tax on importing them into the country. Gotta get their money from somewhere, lord knows they spend enough of it each day.

Brand new GS500 is still about $8000 at the moment. Dunno how much you lot across the lake pay, but damn sure it's less than that.

I paid $3499 for a brand new GS500F model year 2009 in March of 2011.  USA Dollars of course.  With taxes and registration, etc. it was more like $3750.

Too me a MONTH of negotiating and trying to find a dealer before I bought it.  1.99% financing for 5 years.  $62 a month.
Bikeless and Broke at the moment...

I need this bike sold $4199 ono

Aussies are ripped with anything that is imported in... Govt thieves.. Anyway you can pick up a new GS 500 naked for $5990 Ride - Away... thats with 6mths reg , not 12.. Always a catch!  8)
