I've bougt a -93, originaly from Germany, and now I need to restrict it to 25kW due to the laws here in Finland. (The first 2 years you may drive max. 25kW MC:s.

I've got the two parts I need with the bike, but I don't know where to put them. They are almost identical, but one is about 1mm smaler in diameter.

I guess they should be put somewhere in the carburettor.

Has anybody done this before? There have to be someone to help me! I'll take better pictures if somebody wants me too.

how big are those thing?? they kind of look like main jets but also look like plugs...

They are about 2,5 cm i diameter and are made of hard plastic. Not part no. 14.

Naw I know what those look like.

The normal way that bikes are restricted are by blocking up the exhaust. If those parts are metal, I would bet that they go into the front of the exhaust header.  Or I guess they could go into the intake ports too, but my money would be on exhaust.

Either way, if they guy who derestricted it knew what he was doing, you will also have to rejet the bike for its restricted condition. Did you get the OEM jets with those parts?

My english isn't that good. Whats a jet? Is it the thing where the exhaust comes out? That silver "box"?

I've heard many guesses about putting the somwhere in the carburator,  maybe the intake, since they are mad of plastic and they were a bit dirty also, so they had been exposed by dirt...

JamesG

Sorry most of us are in the US where we don't get the restricted model. Maybe when some of our UK folks wake up they will have some suggestions.

BTW-
If you don't know what "Jets" are (the little brass screws that go in a carburator to control the fuel air mix) you should take the bike to a shop and have them re-restrict it for you.  Otherwise you are likely to cause damage to your machine.

the weird thing is that one is biger than the other  :dunno:
so that get's me quessing where the hell you put those

i read someones site here (a guy from holland) and he did the same thing you have to do...just wait a little for someone that lives in europe and they will know what you have to do....

good luck

JamesG

What you could do is tape over half of each carb's inlet to choke the bike down for the test and then remove it later.

Thanks a lot for the help.
Do you people know some other forum about the gs500 but in an european version?
Maybe the size diffrence dosen't matter? I'm gonna have a look at the bike again, probably they'll fit only where they should be.

Hi, we have a very similar rule here in UK, I don't know much about restriction as here you can take a more demanding test to avoid the rule but I think if you try.....

www.uk.msnusers.com/bikers vine (or search bikers vine)
or
www.gs500e.co.uk

you will find something about it there already or ask someone will sort you out. Cheers, good bikin'.

Well most restictors go in the carbs i have never seen those restritors before, and as far as i know u have to get them restricted at a garage or u don't get the paper work to say it's resticted and the police will bust and u can lose your liecence and i guess u don't want that. lol i have to get mine restricted too i'm still waiting for my kit to come from my local garage.

Scorpio X

Sorry, www.uk.msnusers.com/bikers dosen't work. But I'v started a new topic at that forum. Maybe someone there knows...
I dont need to take it to a garage, here in finland the goverment does an inspection and you'll get the papers.
I'm going to call a man who maybe knows almost how to do it...
