Looks like it was a nice ride through the countryside. Even here in America, squids are everywhere screwing things up.
Bikeless and Broke at the moment...

Beautiful day for it! Pity my 450's away for a couple of weeks... was that seriously a fixed speed camera after the cattle grid there?

Whereabouts is that road? I've only really done Tamborine down your way, most of my twisty rides are up here and Sunny coast hinterland...

Ah, the squids. Yeah, right where the road was full of debris, sticks, a tree branch blocking most of our lane  :o, etc., and they ride like that.  :nono:

Pete, that is all Gold Coast Hinterland. And, "no" it was not a speed camera it was a truck monitoring camera. Got to keep track of truckies trying to do sneaky things with sneaky loads.

not sure, but if you look at the 8 minute mark seems some riders crossed double lines making a turn.  before we start casting stones at other riders, maybe we should check we're not in a glass house ourselves.  personally when I am aware of other riders approaching from behind that seem eager to go past me, I move over in the lane and allow them to, just seems the courteous and safe thing to do for everyone.

Um.... cross a double line a metre from where it ended to avoid making a turn in gravel, does not compare to overtaking on essentially blind bends while the road was strewn with tree debris. The video makes it look less than it was. If a car was coming the other way they would have been toast. And IF you are aware, yes, fine, no problem with that. But they were up and by us in a blink. We were exceeding the speed limit at the time. I estimate their speed to be, oh, I don't know, 150kph or there abouts. Not bad for an 80 zone eh?

I was focused on my pace riding I got a bit of a fright but once the first one got passed I moved over and let the rest pass but yeah they were fair into it.
Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

Double lines are double lines, you'll still get ticketed whether its a metre or a centimetre.  Maybe you should have slowed more for the turn?

You cannot stop them being idiots so at least make it safer for yourself.  If a vehicle had appeared from the other direction guess what they will do?  Veer back into your path (from the wrong side of the road) and guess what happens to you?  Not going to end very nicely that's for sure.  Just my 2 cents

You said in the video you were doing the right thing, is exceeding the speed limit the right thing?  As I said glasshouses etc etc.

You were not there so you cannot hope to comment. Camera can make things appear differently than they really are. Went over double lines to miss a fucken branch on the road. What>>>>>are we supposed to bunnyhop over the fucken thing? If you are talking about the turn onto the bridge well I dont think you would EVER get a ticket doing that there. I have lived and grew up there for around 30 years and have NEVER seen a cop ticketing for that EVER in that spot.
The other riders came out of nowhere and I did not even see them until they had started passing so had NO hope of being courteous.
DO NOT defend the idiots.

WE WERE DOING THE SPEED LIMIT. I think you will find Misters comment is a spelling mistake. The speed limit was 80kph which is what we were doing the whole way. THEY were doing around 150. f%$k your glass house. We were following the road rules the whole time. Check your facts. Are you a cop???

no need to get upset, just some observations based on what was in the video and what was typed in the posts, I'm not defending them at all.

I am not upset. I just don't like being accused of doing something wrong when I am not.

I, we, were riding Safely. End of story. Wasn't you that passed us was it? Cause you seem to be spending a lot of effort to try to point out faults we may have been doing. ( BTW, I never said anything in the video, or claimed to be a saint anywhere, I was in front.  :dunno_black:)

In front minding my own business. First bike goes by and I'm like, FuK!. Check mirrors at first see no-one cause they are all riding in a line coming up to Cods at the rear, I assume. So then I look back to the road again cause it is litered with debris and I'd already been Smashed in the toe with a piece of wood hiding in the shadows (which turns out drew blood from my nail), next thing you know, Zip zip zip they go.

My riding put no other riders in danger, nor any other road users who may have been coming the other way. Low risk, high reward.
Their riding was high risk, low reward with the potential for catastrophe.

Spin that all you like, they placed other people in a potentially bad situation due to their impatience to wait a couple of corners for a straight.

no I was safely up in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland squidding it up (scrubbing in my new tyres). :thumb:

I didn't mean to offend anyone, I can only base my comments on what I see in the video and what's typed in the posts.  I actually do agree with your sentiments, time and place for everything and the last thing you do is surprise another rider by spooking them, cause odds are if they come a cropper, they could take you down (and probably will).  I did actually pass two riders on doubles yesterday, but that was well after I made sure they were aware of my presence, they were kind and moved left in the lane to create space and when there was a nice open stretch of safe space I passed them, in the lane, so no crossing over doubles.  that's the way to do it, everyone wins.  incidentally, they were traveling well under the speed limit of 100kmh, so I didn't even need to breach the speed limit to pass them.  what these guys did was stupid and avoidable, no doubt, but if we're going to criticise them we should make sure we judiciously edit our video. :icon_mrgreen:
