Bone stock 2009 gs500f and I was running 1:40 at jennings gp. Now I have k and n lunchbox and two brothers exhaust along with re-jet and I am heading back in about 2 or 3 weeks. Hoping to knock it down to around 1:35 1:30 we will just have to see! Have fun with these pics more pics to come of the upgrades ect.

Thanks! I love this bike everyone tells me how I should upgrade to like an sv 650 or some type of 600 and I just think why should I do that when I am beating people on a gs500 at a track day when everyone else is on 600 its just to much fun!! Granted if I went to PBIR or Daytona I would be screwed bc of the lack of top end however at a track like jennings its all about corner speed and how late you are willing to brake in a turn... honestly I dont even brake I just scrub the front tire going into the corners drop a gear and you are good to go!! I am a stong believer in the gs500 as one of the best bikes out there I mean I romp on it sooo hard and have never had 1 mechanical issue with it!!!!! Knock on wood!!!   :thumb:

Great pics in there. Bone stock?... Although you seem to be doing great without them, you might seriously consider suspension upgrades, especially the front springs... You'd be amazed by the change for the better, especially on the track.

The simplest upgrade for the track that makes quite a difference would be a change in throttle tube.  The stock throttle tube has a 1/4" turn, while and R6 throttle tube has a 1/6" turn.  That means no more repositioning the hand/wrist to get to full throttle.  Motion Pro sells the R6 tube for about $10 under part number 01-0094.  The install is quick and simple, and the hardest part is getting the grip on/off, which isn't too bad at all!

SS front brake line - Firmer front brake, lasts longer
89' factory clip ons - more aggressive riding position
Rear sets from a gsxr - requires a little creativity to fit, but more aggressive position
Heavy duty fork brace - stock one can distort pretty easily

I will +1 on the heavier fork brace.  The is a member on the board in the For Sale section who makes these available for purchase.  Just short of replacing the front end... the most track benefit you'll squeeze out of the stock forks would be to add heavier springs(check), add heavier fork oil (check), add heavier fork brace, and add gold valve cartridge emulators...

I actually have cbr900rr rear sets on mine, but I had to make some brackets. no brackets they were about 2" back, and a 1/2" lower. With the brackets they are still about 2" back and at the same height. I also had to get a different piece to fit onto the shift shaft, and I had to make it Moto GP shift pattern (1st is all the way up, 6th is all the way down), which it turns out I prefer.

Search the forum for info on the gsxr rear sets, I've heard it is an easier swap.
