Put new handle bars on my gs but couldn't get the weights/nut out of the stock bars and now may bar end mirrors don't have anything to attach to. Anyone got a set of stock weights laying around ?

adidasguy

What year is your bike?
We can help you get the bar ends off of your old bars - probably.
We would need to know how your bar end fasten to the new bars: simple bolt in the nut or the expanding sleeve?

Tronspeed3

The new bars are going to need the expanding sleeves. They don't have any thing in them currently

You can try and stick the screw into the part from the bar end mirrors that got stuck in the handlebar and you can try to finangle it out.
I am into buying bikes that people have given up on and fixing them up!

RIP Patrick Lajko, I miss you man.

Tried that already, used a torch, hammer, pliars and a lot of PB blaster on it and still couldn't get the damn thing out! Bent the shaZam! out of the bolt in the process

adidasguy

Destroy the head of the bolt - drill it off.
The bolts are just common metric screws.

The bar ends are the expensive part.

I'd rather just buy some new ones! Lol anyone have any extra ?

I have some bar weights for the '89 clip-ons. They are bolt-on style but I have two rubber bushings/sleeves that you could use to adapt them to your new bars. I'm assuming they're the same diameter. I'm pretty new to this bike, so I'm not sure I have exactly what you're looking for, but let me know if you want them.

Tronspeed3

I'm looking for the nut/expansion plug inside the bar so I can attach my bar end mirrors.

IAmSpartacus

Well I have both a set of weights and a set of expansion plugs. You can have them both or just the plugs and nuts if you're interested. The weights are from my '89 clip-ons and the plugs and nuts are from a set of bar end mirrors that I picked up. The bolts should be standard metric and easily found at a hardware store.

Just let me know.
