Signal Gen rotor pin length?

Does anyone know how long this pin should be? It's the one in the end of the crankshaft that drives the ignition rotor.
Mine dropped out when I removed the rotor, and it's shorter than I would've expected, it's only 4.27mm long. I'm concerned that mine might have broken leaving a part of it still in there. My pin enters the hole by only about 2mm, if it's too short it could work it's way out.
(Gonna be a right bastard to drill it out of the crank if it is broken... tell me it ain't true!)

Pretty much whatever works is OK. The pin's major function is to align the rotor in the correct position. The rotor gets bolted down (don't over torque it!) and it has zero stress on it. So anything that keeps it in position while you tighten it down is fine.
That pin is extremely hard steel. I doubt you broke it.
I don't have one in front of me but I do know they are not very long. 1/8" is probably all they stick out of the crank shaft maybe only 3/32".

Yes, understand all that. BUT... l can see how my pin, being so short, could either 'fall over' or work it's way out of it's hole. Because it's engaged inside the hole only about 2mm. Looking inside the rotor where the pin engages in it's slot, it seems to me that there might be space for the pin to work it's way out.
I realise it's just for alignment, but if it's not correct the ignition timing could be out.

Yup it's hard alright... IF it HAS broken, it's hard, brittle steel because it's a very clean break.
I've assembled it as is but not 100% confident about the security of the arrangement.
Anyone got a pin they could measure?
Cheers,

Had another thought about this, if it looks suss I could easily silver solder a pin into the rotor itself, maybe easier than drilling out the old pin.
Pin length anyone?

Now there isn't much to that pin. They can fall out if the rotor is not on. (Though they do fit in a little snug).

How about pictures before you start to fubar things? Maybe everything is OK and it just fell out.

The end of the pin would have indications if it broke. Though I have never heard of one breaking since they are hardened steel.
Also measure it. Then put it in and tell us how much sticks out.
