About a half hour. And another half hour to take them off and put them on. Do both.
I's say allow hour and a half start to finish to allow time for gossip and pizza.
Something like $8 or so for fork oil and I think it was like $30 or so for a pair of seals and dust caps. We can look up the prices. Those are new parts so you have to pay for them unless you bring beers and pizza or something to trade.

I have one new pack of Pyramid on the shelf. Must be good - they're Ausie parts.

Also have all the tools needed for fork seal replacement.

jacob92icu

Hmmm, ok. I'm liking the pizza/beer idea but down for either. Should I replace both of the fork seals or just the side thats leaking? I was thinking of doing both but I feel like no need to fix it if its not broken.

If one is leaking - the other will leak soon.
Fork seals come in pairs. The time to remove the wheel to fix one fork: not much longer to fix the other.
Most of the time and trouble is taking things on and off the bike.
Do both.
I will NOT let you do just one. Period. End of story. Done. Kaput. Done. Finito. Finis. The end.

jacob92icu

Sounds good. However; you said done twice my good man  :icon_mrgreen:

Hey guys, sorry its been forever since an update with pictures but progress has been rather slow with school and car breaking down and all of this crap happening... Anyways, I got as far as taking the decals off the fairings I got from patrick and the residue left over (which was a pain in the @$$!!). I have also sanded the purple one and will sand the black one shortly and then paint when I buy some more.

Decal black:

Decal Purple:

To get the decals off I just slowly peeled up the corners and slowlllllly peeled the decal away, using WD-40 when it was needed. This was not an easy task. You can also heat the decal with a hair dryer or some kind of heat device to make it a little more pliable.

After decal black:

After decal purple:

I used goof off to get the decal residue off on these cause WD-40, rubbing alcohol, and some other stuff didnt seem to work. Only problem with goof off is the only way it seems to work is if it soaks into it, and that peels the paint off as well, like this:

Hopefully Ill be able to sand them and paint them sometime next week. I am also very busy with this 750 engine I'm completely tearing apart...

the perfect stuff for taking off the goo residue from the decal/sticker is Rubber Roller Cleaner.  I've tried everything, (wd-40, goof-off, etc...)and nothing really works, but this stuff works awesome, the gunk just wipes off.

Too late, but

Goof-Off

is
not
the
same
as

Goo-Gone

One takes of goo, the other dissolves everything - including plastic. Guess which is which!

it's called martin yale rubber roller cleaner and rejuvenator, it's in a white can with green letters. And you can get it at office depot and stores like that.

Oooooookkkkkaaaaayyyyyy...............

so what did you use that dissolved the paint? Goo-Gone won't do that - it is mostly an oil that dissolves glues. You had to have used something pretty powerful to farkle up the plastics. I've NEVER EVER had plastics do that unless I spilled MEK or touline on them - those melt plastic.

So when you stopping back at the bike cave?

We are planning a Vashon trip tomorrow (the 27th), well, at this late, it is today.

If it was indeed goo gone send those pics to the company that makes it. Some times you get lucky and the cover cost of repairs if indeed caused by the're product. I had a type glue remove take the clear off my truck, but they don't make that anymore. That does look like you used something that dissolves.

Yea I used goof off for that picture you saw with the bubbled paint. Nothing happened to the plastic, just the paint got stripped. For what its worth I have some goo gone now, and going to try it with the little amount of goo left. How was your guys ride today Patrick? Sorry I have been realllly busy. Just bought a brand new Kia Rio last weekend and I had to do some running around today, however; I did get to ride for like a minute...

Today was fantastic! We did so much. See the "What have you done..." thread. BrianRC will post more in the Quin thread later.

jacob92icu

Nice i looked at some of the stuff you guys did. I rode quite a bit this weekend despite the rain. Bike acts weird sometimes, but i think she's just mad at me tank could use a good cleaning though I'm sure. Been working on my 750 engine, I split the cases and now it's time to install my spare crank shaft and put her all together. You have any plans for that muzzy exhaust or is it destined for the trash? I really want to make it over there though, what are you doing the Saturday before mothers day? So next next Saturday?
