What condition is the black tank in inside? Do you have both tail fairings?

i do have an exra inner plastic tail thing with the flap that extends down. the bike has the plastic mud flap on it trimmed off to imitate a fender eliminator kit kind of.  but you should be able to see if i have the fairings, all the pictures are there of my whole lot. im getting calls about it left and right...phone rings every 20-30 mins with an interested buyer... have somebody from downstate coming up next week sometime and i need to know a price to start out with the guy.

Dang - I was giung to ask about the black tank, too. I have all the tail plastics, belly pan and headlight cowl all nearly new (if not new-old-stock) and always wanted a tank to go with them.

Lots of good stuff there: carbs, 89 clip-ons and more.

Honestly, I dont see it being worth more than a few hundred because its in a million parts and whoever buys it has to figure out how to put it back together and IF you have all the pieces. I understand you say you do but they do know that or might not be willing to believe you.

You need to get to a price BEFORE someone comes to your place. I would be pissed if I came an hour or more and I liked it but we didnt agree on a price. But then again, I would be the dumb one for coming that far and not knowing what you wanted either.

With all that being said, have an idea of what you want for everything as a "bike" and then go through each part and figure out what each part is worth and total it up. Chances are, its worth more in pieces than a whole. However, its more of a headache to sell pieces and ship pieces than selling everything at once and willing to loose a few hundred on  a package deal

For instance, I would be interested in the OEM handle bars and top clamp

well if me and this guy do not agree upon a price, i will either part it out or just get her road worthy. and its not nearly in a million pieces. its about 90% complete atleast. all the "million pieces" you see are extra motor mounts, clips, screws, nuts, bolts, plates. there are basically 2 bikes minus a frame and engine. and all in fair condition. and to the gentlemen wanting to know about the gas tank, i dont know what the condition inside it is because you need a key to open them, and i am unfortunate enough to not have one   :dunno_black:  :technical:  :icon_eek:  :icon_sad:  :icon_exclaim:

You need the key to unlock the cap but you can remove the cap by unscrewing it from the tank  :D

thanks, i figured that out after i looked at it more closely and noticed those were bolts & not all for decovartion. i planned on buying the $30 unit with a key off of ebay if i end up keeping and restoring back to her old glory. I'm trying to sell it to purchase a 3 wheeler with a cbr750r conversion done to it thats on craigslist in my area :woohoo:   :2guns:  :flipoff:

Most Suzuki gas caps lock onto the filler tube. Removing the 4 bolts won't necessarily let you take off the gas cap.
When in that situation, I stick in a bigass screwdriver and twist clockwise destroying the lock but letting me take it off.
If you have other Suzuki keys, try them! Rake the tumblers a little and it might open.
I bought a used tank with gas cap. No key. My magic, Suzi's key fit it perfectly and I was able to open the cap and save the cap for use elsewhere.

now that you mention older keys, my grandfather has a whole key ring of old gas cap keys i will try. thanks! but i think i found someone to buy my whole set for $1,000

So basically unless that tanks full of gas, its probably rusted all to heck fire :p

i dont think it is rusted inside... its been stored inside a garage in flint michigan for about 10 years till just last week my dad didnt want it and give it to me.

What's the status of things? Looks like a new West Seattle GS500 Club member will be building a bike as his first bike. I have tails that match the tank and NOS headlight cowl and belly pan. It could make a very handsome bike.

Well I drove the 2.5 hours and bought everything from him today in the hopes of restoring and having a bike for my wife. Adidas that blank tank is surprisingly clean on the inside, but came off a wrecked bike, and has the dings to show for it, and the tape on it is pretty beat up up close. He had tried doing what was suggested on here and breaking the lock with a screwdriver. It worked fine on the black tank and that cap is already off. The teal tank however he busted the top half of the barrel off, and that cap is stuck on there. Any ideas?

Well, maybe get out the drill and grinders and start destroying the gas cap to the best of your ability?
