Will carbs from any other Suzuki bike swap onto the gs500 engine or do they make a new racing carb setup for our engine?

There was a 650cc twin model from the 80s made for only a few years that may work?

You can try 2 boulevard s40 carbs for grins if you can "team" them somehow.

I think he wants a whole new carb. Btw, the bike I was referring to is a GR650 Tempter. Or, early SV650s (2002 prior) had carbs, but they were in a V pattern.

If I can't swap out the factory carbs, I'll definitely buy a jet kit.  I'm going to pull the motor and drop it off to a race shop to see what they can do for me.  That motor is definitely capable of more power than it's putting out.  Since our bikes are still really just "starter" bikes, the motors were not really built for performance from the factory.  Only a race shop can really elevate the performance level beyond the average jet kit/air filter/exhaust combo.

Gr650 carbs are bigger:

Carburetion 2 x Mikuni CV BS36SS

Gs500 is : Fuel System: Mikuni BSR34SS

No expert here...I'd talk to a shop.

Big Rich

Bigger isn't always better.

GR carbs have the same intake diameter (they are round instead of oval like the GS500 though) - the same K&N lunchbox filter fits. So you're getting the same amount of air in them. The beauty of the GS carbs are the flat slides and smaller throat diameter - this allows for more air pressure into the carb body and the combustion chamber.

If anything, look into some Mikuni VM32's or even some TM carbs. Or if you have a lot of time and money, some CR racing carbs.
