Hello all,
So with spring on its way here in Ontario I am working on getting my bike in shape for the season. I ran it into December and put it away badly. It hasn't wanted to start for me. I posted a video of my sad bike and me trying to start it for your pleasure. Any help would be appreciated....

So I have gas in the tank, new plugs, checked oil, new battery, a K&N lunchbox, stage one re-jet and yoshi muffler. I am leaning towards buying a new starter relay at this point....
I checked jets and made sure they were turned 3 out. I was having issues towards the end of last season with the bike dying as I geared down to come to stop...  would check idle screw if I could start it.
I WAS able to bump start her the other day, but she would ran like garbage....

The starter relay only engages the starter motor. That's all.
It has nothing to do with running, stalling or anything else.

WOT is not a good idea for starting or recommended.
I didn't see you put on the choke (aka pull the starter circuit lever as technically is not a choke, though we still call it that.)

Thanks ADIDAS, the choke is full on... I don't normally crank the throttle but as she wont start I figured it could use some help...

Have you checked to see if you actually have spark? Aka making sure your coils aren't bad? A good way to check for spark is to remove one plug from engine, keep it connected to the coil and ground it out (cooling fins preferably) crank the engine and see if a spark appears. Good luck! :thumb:
I am into buying bikes that people have given up on and fixing them up!

RIP Patrick Lajko, I miss you man.

I have found, at the suggestion of bluesmudge, that sometimes things will start better with less choke. Too much choke can make things too rich.  I have found that to be true.
I'm reading the Haynes book on carbs. There are lots of air passages that help atomize fuel and air flow. It makes sense that if passages are not clean, then fuel will just blob up and not burn right.
When weather warms up I'll clean out some carbs (which haven't been cleaned to my knowledge and they had bad previous owners) paying attention to air passages, the cold starting circuit (aka choke system).
It is a little puzzling why people always talk about cleaning jets (which is needed) but never talk about having the air passages clean and the bypass ports in the venturi.

One other issue I'm considering trying is a dual battery. Since spark varies with voltage, as you start a bike the starter motor drains the voltage. A second battery for the electricals separate from the starter motor might be rather interesting. (Also beefing up the wires to  the coils as others have done). I have noticed this when letting up on the starter. Inertia keeps the motor turning another one or two revolutions and BANG! the motor takes off. When the starter is released, the voltage jumps back up because the starter motor is not drawing power. Something to ponder...

Probably old or bad gas. Although I cannot speak for Canada, gas here goes bad in a few months due to ethanol.

Dump out the gas and try fresh fuel, run done seafoam through it and I bet that fixes it.

Adidas, honda cx series had a separate electronic ignition.

The thought was you could bump start the bike in the event if an electrical system failure. Maybe some inspiration?:  http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_CX_series

Does it smell like gas? Did you check float levels? Are you sure theres enough gas in the tank?

I had a similar problem turned out my bike was running extremely rich and I had a sticking float, I also found gas in the airbox so just throwing out possible troubleshoot ideas.

I also agree it could be bad gas maybe try going through the carbs and cleaning the bowls couldve varnished up you never know.

Missed the long time sitting.
Your bike is mad because ignored her for 3 months. there. That's all it is.

Now, carbs could have had all gas evaporate out. Has it been on PRIME to insure carbs are full of gas? Draining them first to get water and crud out is not a bad idea.

Fellas thanks for all the input and suggestions... It would appear my bike just wanted a YouTube video and a twist of the idle screw as she started like a champ after a few hits on YouTube!
I also gave her a quick wipe cleaning so maybe it was the extra horsepower 💪
