What all do you need to use aftermarket 37mm clip ons on a 06 gs?

Also any recommendations? Ebay seems to be full of China stuff (not saying its bad, just like to buy from anywhere but china).

You can buy mine or you can buy a set from China as thats where mine came from originally Im sure.

Nothing is needed to install them. Simply support the front end, lower the front end and mount them around the top of the trees.

Those are cool! it reminds me of super expensive ones made by LSL.

I may have to buy a set just to see what they are like.

OrTahor sells OEM clip-ons that were offered on the Canadian and European GS's. The Type-1's are the ones that do not interfere with the gas tank the newer GS's.

I got mine from him.

There are advantages to the OEM's:
1. Mount on top triple with the rubber dampers so less vibration that fork mounted
2. OEM bars are steel - heavy - less vibration than Woodcraft aluminum bars.

I love the OEM's. All my bikes have them - either 89's or Euro type-1.

Thanks, not sure if i want to spend $160 for a set of those or not.

I still might go with with cheap'o clip ons.

I have some vortex clipons installed but the issue with those is mounting your guages. im having a buddy fab me up a mounting plate. right now it zipped tied on till he finishes it.

Rub some dirt in it, you'll be fine!

weedahoe

I have the vortex on mine and no issues with the gauges but I left the top plate on whereas you took yours off? Why?

My guess would be that by removing the top plate, you only lower the front end about 3/8"
If god intended us to drink beer, he would have given us stomachs.

Leave the top plate and cut out the area around the forks where the vortex go.
Problem solved! You can now mount the gauges.

If the bike falls over does those bars hit the tank?

These are what you want. they will give you some rise and you do not need to drop the forks to fit them. They will fit on below triple. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Woodcraft-08-11-Kawasaki-Ninja-250-37mm-2-1-2-riser-clipon-CLIP-ON-HANDLEBARS-/290870770689?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43b93fbc01

These wood craft ones are really nice looking, and putting them underneath the triple is a really good choice cause it cleans up the dash area and gives you a more aggressive riding position. One con is price though haha.
I am into buying bikes that people have given up on and fixing them up!

RIP Patrick Lajko, I miss you man.

Yeah, i have so many projects going on i cant really justify that amount right now.

Cheap doesn't always means its worse then those high dollar items, lot of time your just paying for the stupid brand name. .

I'm sure i can buy the set of clip ons on ebay for $40 from chinggy land and work/last just as good as those $180 clip ons. i just have not made my mind up which direction i want to go with the bars yet.

whoever said i needed or wanted raisers over 1".  I want them as low as possible, I'm 6'2 with long arms. Kind of the entire point of wanting to dump the stock bars.

As I have said before, I have the "vortex" 37mm clip ons and they ride fine. I have logged A LOT of miles on my bike. No soar hands or wrists, no numbness, no backaches, counter steering works fine, no bad vibration, ect
