Hi all,

I'm getting cramps from my throttle, it's extremely 'stiff'. Now i placed an domino hoping it would be better, but it even got worse. I know about the trottle locker and stuff but i rather have an smoother throttle.

I was thinking about an throttle from another bike perhaps? Supposuly you should be able to twist the throttle with your thumb and index finger. Well that wasn't the case with the old throttle and neither with the domino. I have to use the whole hand grip to twist.

Thanks

You tried lubing your cable?

tnk2k

On the domino i used a new cable. So that can't be the issue?

Is the cable routed correctly? No kinks or tight bends? Is it the right length? Have you had the throttle tube apart to see if anything is jammed between the bar and the throttle cam?

tnk2k

Yeah it's all good. Basically the domino just makes it harder to twist, i was hoping it would make it smoother. Can you twist it between index finger & thumb?

I can on both my bikes yes.

Is there a little gap between your throttle tube/grip and your bar end weight? If the bar end is pushed up against the throttle tube it can be hard to operate and even stick.

There is no barend :) It's a abm streetfighter bar without barends. So does anybody have any same experience with this and swapped the original throttle's with smth else? I read smth about an R6 throttle, perhaps an sv650 throttle? Will it fit? Twist smoother?

Thanks mate! That's really usefull

When the stock bar was replaced maybe whoever replaced it didn't get the throttle cable seated correctly in the throttle pipe groove and the cable is binding. Just a thought.

He replaced the cable with a new one.

If he replaced it with a new one and its still stiff, something isnt adjusted correctly and is binding

I agree that it's binding somewhere....there is NO WAY u should have to use your whole hand to twist the throttle(2 fingers should be fine)
Start by taking the cable off at the throttle end & see if u can(while your holding the cable) pull the wire cable insert out with only your fingers....if not experiment with how much force is necessary to operate the cable wire.
Trace backwards if necessary to any binding.
