Big Decision - Opinions?

So, I finally received word for the settlement of my bike. The insurance company wants to give me quite a bit to take the bike, and they want to take quite a bit if I want to keep the bike.

I'm thinking about letting the bike go, however that kind of leaves me to think, what will become of my GS? Do insurance companies sell them to a salvage yard in which the bike is completely crushed  :cry: or do they get parted out by the salvage yard, which would at least keep the parts roaming for people who need them.

With the amount I originally bought the bike for, I think I will just let it go. I know, weird question, but big personal decision.

Personally?  Hold a goodbye session and let it go.  Now is a good time to upgrade.  Seize it!

Usually bike breakers. There are a few in CA that I buy from.
Who knows, I may end up buying some of your parts! (and selling back to you  :icon_lol: )

Haha, that's IF I find another GS I want. I must say, since I've been on this forum, I really have started to appreciate the naked look.  Also amazed at how cheap most of you pick up the bikes for!

Problem is I can't find any good deals near me!!  :2guns:

Bought a frame down there from a breaker for like $200 with title. It depends on why they are breaking it down. If totaled, then dirty title. If abandoned or like that, then the title is clean.
Search ebay. There's Safari Cycles in Long Beach. They have many. ask them about titles. At $400 obo they should be titled. Untitled frames usually are $100 or so.

Not at all. It depends on who took the bike apart, why, if insurance was involved, etc.
Example:   Licensed Ohio bike breakers destroy the title. Private people can take a bike apart and sell the frame with title.
.....and......If you just take a bike apart because you are pissed at it and sell the parts, the title is still clean.

Washington is real easy. Older bikes do not need inspection so you can have a license plate for a bare frame. I've transferred titles for bare frames from Florida, California, Minnesota and next week Maryland.
Check local laws in your area. California probably needs an inspection of a finished bike but you can check what's required for you.
Once a title is red marked with "Salvage" or "Totaled", different states have different requirements.
Here, I can get a salvage frame on the road with a highway patrol inspection to see it meets legal requirements.

These have license plates for Washington: Well, actually the black one (2006) just came in with a clean Maryland title which will get taken care of next week. That cost me $155 and $99 shipping. Add wheels, motor and a seat and she's ready to ride.

If you can deal with a title transfer, I'll sell it to you for $250 plus shipping or come pick it up and tour the area or go skiing or ride around with me on one of my extra bikes.

Even seasoned supersport riders class the Daytona 675 as a really aggressive positioned bike. I would not buy it if you plan to do trips longer than 30mins.

Even better,  the triumph street triple r.  It's the same engine as the Daytona,  just mild cams. Atleast that's my understanding of it.  The street triple has more upright bars like the newer Gs500f.  Definitely my next bike.

Heck yeah.  The Daytona is a hooligan's dream on the street.  A beautiful bike but not the most practical no doubt. The street triple R would be a great compromise and am also seriously considering it as my next bike.

You might as well let go of the bike. I bought my bike running for 550 buck-a-roos and fixed it up to the point where everything works perfectly now. The deals are out there you just have to be patient. If you are not so hell bent on a gs a good way to search for cheap bikes is put the price range on craigslist to like 400-1500 and type "runs" in the search box and see what you find.
