Rejetting with lunchbox filter!

Hey all,

So I'm fitting a lunchbox K&N filter to replace the airbox that was previously on my 1997 GS500. I have the stock exhaust system and was wondering if there was anybody out there who happens to know what particular adjustments I should make with regards to rejetting and whether or not you have personally tested those adjustments.

On a side note: I'm also have an issue with the carbs flooding easily prior to removing them and presume this is due to either the floats being set incorrectly or the floats getting stuck, can anybody else verify this?

I can't get at the bike till I'm home on Sunday so I'm hoping to order the correct jets in and get them fitted while taking a look at the floats then.

Any help anybody could provide on either subject would be great!

Thanks,

Jack_S

On my 2006 in Southern California I am using:

pilot 20
mid-main 65
with no washers
main 142.5
turns 3

Running great, stock exhaust with lunchbox.

On your 97 carbs according to the wiki you should use:

pilot 40
main 140
washers 1
turns 2.5

I take it that's 2.5 turns out?

and where would be the best place to get the washers? Are they a particular type?

#4 washers at the hardware store.

Ask, they will know that they are. Not Lowes or Home Depot but a real hardware store.
