Choke questions - linkage and routing

Hi, I'm helping a friend of mine put together his 95 GS500E; a recent purchase as his first street bike. I'm well experienced with Honda bikes, but this Suzuki is a bit different. I have looked in the archive and the FAQ first before posting.

The bike came missing the choke cable and perhaps a linkage. What we have is the handlebar choke control and the on-carb choke mechanism exactly as pictured in the FAQ/Sticky:

The mechanism moves smoothly and easily and works if pulled using a lanyard (for testing.) So, the questions:

1. Given the parts I have here, am I correct in assuming that the only thing I need to get is the choke cable to make the choke functional? Or is there some secondary connecting linkage (as I have seen on some older Suzukis)?

2. Where can I find pictures of the proper routing for the choke cable/potential linkage?

3. How is the choke cable installed onto the carbs/linkage?

Thanks for any help.

Looks like all you need is the choke cable on that end:

Choke cable goes forward over the engine valve cover and out thru the frame opening and around the left fork tube and up to the bars as it comes from the factory.

Thanks. Is it as simple to fit as it appears? I.E., fit ferrule in linkage, compress spring, pull cable sheath back, insert cable in fitting and release spring?

Depends on how big your hands are.  :icon_lol:  I've been riding GS500s for 14 years and 175k miles so it seems easy enough now.

It is exactly that. The first time around might take you a couple tries (it's a tight fit), but it's not bad at all.

Just to close the 'circle' - yes, it was that easy and we were able to get the bike moving out again very successfully.
