Will a r6 2006-7 exhaust fit a 2008 Gs?

Hey guys,

I was wondering if a 2006-7 r6 exhaust fit a 2008 GS? Will it require rejetting? I am getting stage 1 jets from the Buddha anyways to offset the factory lean setting on the bike.

Here is the can

Since a rejet will make the engine run cooler, will it burn less oil? This is my commuter and I am looking to make it last forever. I have a K&N pod installed but I will returning to stock as I heard it isn't good for the engine.

Thanks

Looks like this guy did it...you'll likely need a custom made mid pipe to make the connection

Would 08-20/135.2, 1 washer under needle and 3 turn outs work for the exhuast? I am getting this from the Buddha.

Apparently this exhaust has cables and i dont know if they are to be thrown out or put on? I havent seen any cables on the OEM exhaust. Would the welder know? I am about to head out to get this R6 exhaust welded on and have no idea how this would work. HELP!!

Those cables are probably for a butterfly valve of some sort... I don't have much knowledge here on this one, but I'll offer what I've got.  My guess is that the R6 uses them for changing pressure in the can, which gives you different power output at different rev ranges?!  I'd be willing to bet you don't need them for the GS... and I'd also be willing to bet you can buy some sort of plug or 'eliminator' that would block that system from affecting anything if you don't want to use it...  I don't see any aftermarket cans with that setup, so I can't imagine it affects that much regarding power... but then again aftermarket cans are designed for power in racing rev ranges (so prolly high end I'm guessing) and therefore they wouldn't need anything like this as their cans are designed for track only...

...I'm just throwing these ideas out there, I really don't know any of this for sure because I know little about it in the first place... but I haven't seen a GS with any setup like that, so I would highly doubt you need that cable setup.  If you are getting that exhaust on today, you can worry about the cables later even if you end up needing them...

Just make sure it defaults to the open position.
