Unfortunately I just learned what the jets were before i took the carbs apart. So with rejetting I'd have to buy new jets, can I get away with adjusting something? Just a little short on cash at the moment and I'd rather not lose the power that the DJ kit gave me haha

The jets I would sell do the exact same thing DJ gives you minus the problems and the garbage you have to deal with talking to the DJ Idiots.
Anyway - you can adjust your way into a better state.
Open air screws 1/2 turn for a first step - but make sure its clean too.

If you were in a fat condition (rich) on your jets I would say play away to your hearts content trying to get it to run right. Problem is you're LEAN. Lean=holed pistons=new motor. It's a false economy to save $20-30 on jets and trash a motor.

Take Buddhas advice and put a stock needle in and 20/65/135. Not many run the DJ stuff, there are tons of people here that use the std mikuni parts with good results.

Thanks for the endorsement gti5notrkt.

I would however say, if you have dj needle, your easier path is to tune it, even if needed going back to stock filter.

If you have the original needles sitting aroubnd - yea swapping over to a mikuni based kit works.

Unfortunately I was not given the stock needles with my bike. I'll be taking the carbs apart and adjusting the DJ needle down to the fourth clip and the air screw half a turn out and see what that gives me. But alas, I'm leaving tomorrow for a wedding in Minnesota for a week and a half and I don't get to bring my bike  which also means I'm missing out on an entire paycheck. So if this adjusting does not work I'll buy some stock needles and your kit Buddha! Just give me some time please that's all I ask. Stupid vacation....
I'll let you know my jet sizes as soon as I possibly can. Thanks for all the help guys honestly, I wouldn't know anything about my bike and probably would've paid out the rear end for a shop to get it to run right. Plus I get a new hobby seeing as to I like working on this thing
