Alright, so Ive been trying to crack the nut on getting this bike to start electronically.  I jumped my starter earlier and after an array of sparks followed by cusswords i figured my starter is still good. Now i cleaned out spider nest outta my right handlebars controls and now when i push the button it works. But when I do i get a large buzzing sound coming directly from my starter relay. Anyone know what this could be? i have a new starter relay but that didnt really work when i tried it. Someone help me solve the last peice of my puzzle!

A buzzing relay, eh?  Sounds like the old setup they used to use to practice Morse code ... but that was done on purpose.

If your relay is working correctly, it should click once when you apply 12 volts to it, and click again when you remove the power.  The first click is caused by a piece of metal that is attracted by energized coils and closes a physical connection.  The second click is caused by the piece of metal springing back to its "at rest" position when the current to the coils is cut.

If the relay buzzes, there must be an internal problem that breaks the current path just as/after the physical connection is closed.  When the piece of metal springs back toward its "at rest" position, current flows to the coils again (because you're still pushing the starter button) and the cycle starts over again.

Does the new relay work this way, or does it "click twice" like it should?  You shouldn't need to install it in the bike to do this test (if you have some decently-thick scrap wires lying around).

The new relay just kills everything. But I figured out my issue! :D this being my first Nike  new to absolutely everything. and there was no battery when I bought it so I've been running leads from my mower. In my stupidity I was usong the relay to complete the circuit in a way. I had the pos and neg battery terminals running to it with the starter wire on top of the neg. The relay couldn't handle what I was putting through. So I thought about it. Kept the pos where it was took off what I now know is negative hooked the neg to that and put the starter wire where I originally had the negative and bam. Now it cranks :)
