I just went and got new spark plugs for my '06 gs500f and when i pulled the old plugs off i noticed oil on the right plug. im thinking i should do a compression test to verify what the problem might be but i dont know if just doing the test will find me a solution. I have a K&N drop in air filter and i rejetted the carb to a 20, 62.5, and 137.5 with the pilot screw 3 turns out. I just want to know if oil on the plugs is common for the gs and if not, what do i fix? Any suggestions are welcome  :)

From my understanding, you oil seal piston ring (the bottom one) could have maybe gone wrong. Not too hard of a fix, basically just have to do a top end rebuild, which might sound like a lot if you have never been inside an engine, but really its not. A bad oil seal ring on the piston could lead to oil getting into the combustion chamber therefore onto your plugs. But that's just one of the possibilities I can think of.
I am into buying bikes that people have given up on and fixing them up!

RIP Patrick Lajko, I miss you man.

Alright thanks! yeah i also know it needs a valve adjustment. i dont think thats the case though. but yeah piston rings i can do. never been inside the engine yet but sounds like a fun time. i was kinda thinking it could be piston rings but just wanted to make sure. not gonna be able to fix it for awhile though cause im too broke to buy it... only making like $130 a week on average..

im in claremont, ca. its in the la county. dont worry though i can handle most if not all things on a gs500f. havent had any trouble fixing things so far (knock on wood). :D but i just recently discovered that my bike leaks gas out of the overflow line on the air box when i have my petcock switched to the on position. doesnt leak when i switch it to reserve though so im thinking it may be the petcock
