I managed to crash my bike yesterday morning, minor damages but i need atleast 1 new mirror, left some road rash on the right engine cover (the new shiny one) and some more scratches on the tank, not sure if i bent the handle bars or not yet. I ended up driving it the rest of the way to my friends house to help his brother with school stuff and back. Ended up going swimming in the ocean and tearing up my other side of my body (Great birthday morning for me!).
anyways, im buying a protective coat and getting new tires over the next week or two, I have a winter one but wasn't wearing it (Just a wind breaker that i grabbed thinking "well i don't want to hit the pavement bare skinned today") though i only got some minor scratches near my fore-arm for my torso, mostly impact damage and my leg / waist area.

Having lots of fun with the bike! Should be  2 mirrored 2 blinkered and sanded down a bit here soon! planning on being back on the road in 2 weeks or less, though the girlfriend tried to confinscate my ignition key when i got home

I'll try and get some pictures when im allowed back in the garage where its locked up for now

Glad you aren't more seriously hurt.

Also consider some frame sliders or crash bars if you plan to replace the engine cover with yet another new shiny one...or to prevent worse should it happen again.

Did you learn anything from your off? Such as why it happened and what you can do to prevent it from happening again?
It seems it has become necessary to qualify my posts:

How'd it happen, and what could you have done differently to prevent it?  Help us all be safer!

Either it really wasn't too bad, or you took your Chuck Norris vitamins that morning...

'Yeah, I off'd my bike... just brushed off and rode off... no big deal... Then I poured salt all over my wounds to show Mister how Americans HTFU... then, I round housed the first motherF'er who gazed more than a second in my direction...'

:icon_lol:

Anyway, glad you came out okay... got lucky without the gear, use it to learn from as others have said.

It wasn't a big deal, i also learned to watch semis more closely since they apparently don't always stop at stop signs, i was dodging around it when the rear tire broke loose and kicked out, not a huge deal mostly P.O.'d at myself for losing control. Though i have been in way more than my fair share of accidents so ive been practicing my "HTFU and get over it"  :flipoff:. Also time to get a new rear tire as my current is cracked pretty bad (i'm getting the full set from a family friend). i guess the last thing is that i really need some summer style riding gear! i find myself without protective gear too often because its way to warm to wear in the sun.
And i plan on getting some frame sliders as well, definitely important!

HAHAHAAHAHAA that is great.

Keep hitting CraigsList for gear. It's possible to get stuff for 75-50% off retail.  (just not helmets!)
The other day I got a JRocket Ballistic Mesh for $40!

I read a line that said something like 'if its too hot for gear then its too hot to ride'

Glad to hear that you're not too tore up.  Post some pics.

As a side note, i was NOT wearing shorts and sandals on the bike, i had jeans on and steel toe work boots.
and i had washed my leg off several times before taking pictures

other injuries not shown, nothing impressive

well thats handy to know .. and comforting too...

just for a second i thought you were a 'birkenstock hippie' squid .. with heavy sweating problems  ;)  :flipoff:

No, thats just a parking lot area. i fell in the middle of the street.
After taking my tires in for some replacements i was told that even though the tread looked fine from above when you take a look sideways it's actually almost gone because it wore in a diagonal pattern (according to the mechanic its because i corner really hard, which i suppose is a good thing) wish i still had the tire to show pictures of it, the tread actually slightly peeled back when we let the air out of the tires. In the end i got brand new shinko's, ill have to grab the specs when i get home! my rear rotor got a rock or something in it and was chewed to pieces so i picked up another second-hand rotor and its in the shop being machined down smooth now

This is why I wear leg guards under my jeans. :o Glad you're not too bad off, though. The damage to the bike looks pretty minor.

Glad to see that is the extent of your personal injury.  I am a huge proponent of ATGATT.    A coworker of mine was recently in a low side solo crash on his Honda VT1300 and was wearing a tee shirt, jeans and no helmet.  Needless to say he is in the hospital with sever road rash (down to bone on his elbows) and a severe concussion.  I cringe when I see the riders with their doo rags as helmets and wife beater tee shirts as riding jackets.

It all worked out, just waiting on my rear rotor then its time for assembly!

Erika

Ooof. I'm dusting those draggin jeans off and putting them back on.

All set and good to go, minus one problem... It started up and ran but now it wont start for some reason, i'm thinking that my friend forgot to turn the petcock back on like he said he would (He was really enthusiastic about learning about working on motorcycles so i said i would let him help). Hopefully this weekend ill have it running no problem
