2" Drop (dogbones) - should we remove the center stand

I lowered her bike lastnight, she wasn't comfortable riding at the stock height.

I can't say it adversely affected the handling enough to concern me- and she certainly won't notice or care as a new rider... it's plenty functional for the riding she'll be doing.

But I did notice quickly that the center stand is REALLY low- she managed to drag it a bit in a corner lastnight so it's kinda concerning me... - should we pull it off? Any other options?

I have lowered my bike as well.  The real answer involves how you ride.  If you were already scraping the centerstand, though, I'd say take it off.  I rode with mine for about a month, then took it off.  I scraped the mess out of it, and it just became too uncomfortable to ride with.  Couldn't get any decent lean angles.  Besides scraping it up, its dangerous.  It could lift the rear and cause it to slip out and into a low side...

Its simple to take off, but I'm almost certain you have to drop the exhaust to work on that right side bolt on the centerstand.  Even if you get your tool in their to loosen it, you won't have room to get the bolt out without dropping the exhaust... 20-25 min job with stubborn bolts and the wrong tools... 10 min job if everything goes well with the right tools.

Thanks for you're experience on this- yeah I think it's gotta go- sad because i really liked having it on there i mean it made putting the dog bones on a piece of cake

But it is kinda unsafe looking- and as you said it could definitely pivot the back wheel up since it's a hard point.

I know, I was reluctant to take it off too... makes maintenance a breeze, and you aren't kidding about the dogbones swap!  But taking it off is for the best if you are scraping it already, it really limits your lean angle.  There is no extra room to lean the bike further over if you have to... just bad scenario all around.

I'm looking to get a something to replace it, such as a rear wheel stand or MC jack... haven't decided on anything yet, but its on the list.

just keep it on hand when you need it put the bolt in and use it.  take it off the center stand and pull the bolt and put back on the shelf until next time.

That's the other problem! haha- It's not really useable.

I've always been able to get even big bikes onto their center stand- but now that this bike is lowered- the stand just doesn't have room to lever down UNDER the bike properly- you can't properly put it up now.

So I guess that's another good reason to pull it off- it's useless lol.

How long did lowering it take?

Lowering isnt hard and can be done in under an hour with the right tools. Mine used to be lowered but it never had the center stand
