Usually that one vein in your forehead goes first. Or at least it starts pulsing...kinda like a warning valve.
It seems it has become necessary to qualify my posts:
I am/am not trying to start an argument. This post is/is not intended to be a personal attack. I am/am not merely attempting to present a different viewpoint.

I find it interesting that Sony has taken the position that what is in place now is good enough.

MS/xbox fanboys are trying to defend the new DRM MS will put in place, but it is clear the PS4 will likely win the next console war.

I love xbox games, but I'm done when these machines brick (or when xbox 1 supplants them).  I use my PS3 for media and use it much more often for non-game stuff.

plus with a ps3 you've got Blu-ray and don't have to pay for internet twice. ( once for broadband, and again for xbox live. )

I never understood why they always push so hard for DRM when it can so easily be circumvented

Not even a console war really, they assumed the rabid fans would just bend over and take it.. Sony has scored some great publicity over the shortcomings of the Xbox1. 100% of people in my office who use consoles are going stright for the PS4.

That being said, I still prefer my PC, the PS3 and Xbox 360 were lagging pretty seriously behind in terms of hardware support.. It takes on average 3 or 4 years between hardware revisions, and PC hardware moves a lot faster.

I am thankful though that both are using AMD X86-64 APU based architecture, which means a greater proportion of developers are going to actually produce some games that are cross platform better than the hobbled ones they have been for so long..  :thumb:

This also.  This was a topic a few days ago at the office.  The specs are close enough that 98% of the game can be coded for both platforms.  Maybe it was just luck, or maybe a conscious decision on the part of both manufacturers.  Whatever the case it is a win for consumers and devs.

Used to be you couldn't build a pc for what the ps3 and xbarge could do. not w/o spending a small fortune. nowadays OTOH, you can.

I remember when I used to play games on a console; back when the PSone (the little white one) just came out. Then I got a computer and got the hell over consoles. :)

Definitely a conscious decision - AMD have pushed hard to get their architecture adopted. The price point for the AMD all singing all dancing APU is probably about 80% tops of what IBM / Intel + Nvidia would have offered.

The last generation of consoles (Sony and Xbox) were PowerPC and I guess IBM wanted too much for their product. If you want to add flash graphics you have the option of Nvidia + IBM CPU or maybe Intel and their new integrated graphics (Laptop Tech). AMD makes CPUs and GPUs - hence lower price and smaller footprint.

Just ordered my new CPU and Mobo today - 8 core CPU 4.1GHz. Just made the switch back to AMD after about 5 years with Intel...
