...rolling down the highway, doing my own thing. I have to be there at 10:30, and I'm looking good on time. I decide to get comfy, so I slide back a bit and put my feet up on the passenger pegs. "Wait... What? My left leg is really cold..." I look down; my leg is wet. "OH MY GOD THAT'S GAS!!" So, I pull over. It turns out my petchicken decided to explode. My prime connector blew out of it. So I put it back on, start it up, and get rolling again. It flies out again. Yay. I feel around the petchicken, rolling at 75, and put the connector back in. I end up riding one handed down the highway holding my petchicken together for about 15 miles.

I pull into the parking lot of the business, covered in gas, and smelling like the inside of my fuel tank. I walk inside and sit down. The plant manager walks up, looks at me, and says, "Well, this is a first."

... I got the job. :))

Thanks! I need more money for my toys lol.

Does anyone know what would cause the prime connector to pop out like that? I put it back together properly out in the parking lot after the interview, and it held the whole way home. Did it just vibrate off?

Zip ties or hose clamp.

Original hose or replacement?

If replacement what diameter? 1/4 is tight the other stuff is loose. Clamps or ties recommended no matter what.

If the gas cap vent was clogged could this cause the problem?  :dunno_black:

The Buddha

That L shape connector - yes its on there and held in place via the grace of god.

Put some JB weld on it and press it back in. Then let it dry before putting gas in.

Cool.

All my lines are stainless steel wrapped and clamped down with band clamps. They ain't going anywhere until I say so lol.

Judging by the fact that my tank was hemorrhaging, I'm gonna say that my vents are probably okay. It's worthwhile to check them out, anyway.

Thanks, Buddha. Yeah, it's the little L piece that I'm talking about. Is this a common problem?

Very rare to come off. Probably got damaged taking fuel lines on or off.
Jam back in. JB weld can help. Tap in place with a small mallet. I believe it is a press fit fitting.

Ah ok I needed to re read that, I apparently assumed. Good deal for sure you got the real authorities in here, I have not run into that particular instance.
