2010 Fork compatability

Hi all, first time poster and all round newbie here.

I'm recently purchased a 2010 GS500 with some front damage. Two bent forks (too bent to straighten), a bent front axle, broken fork brace plate and bent handle bars. The brakes and wheel seem good although I plan to change bearings to be sure. Triple tree looks straight (fingers crossed).

My question is this. Given that my GS is a naked, and a 2010, am I able to place earlier model forks on it? Can I place a 2005 GS500F on there without it looking strange?

I ask this because I see a lot of eBay ads saying "1989-2002". I'll obviously aim for as later built forks as possible but don't think I'm going to get a 2010.

I hope I haven't asked a question everyone is sick of seeing.

dont think there are any differences in the 2000's series forks ... dont know 100% but cant remember any differences being mentioned?

i think any gs500 fork 'should' fit...

depends on your overall budget too .. and how handy you are... could also do a gsxr front end transplant with the USD style... seeing as your whole front is munted! 

now wait and see if the tech monkeys come out to shout it down!

there is at least some differences internally... dont know about externally

All forks will fit.
Only difference is newer ones have the extra tab for the reflector. So you get Harley stick-on refglectors for $12.95 a pair including postage from ebay. I use those reflectors on all my bikes.
Newest ones have nicer aluminum fork caps. Oldest ones have steel ones that rust. So you put your newer fork caps on older forks. They all fit the same.

While internals of 2004+ are different, outside they all fit the same (except for the added reflector mounting)
