So I've been looking at riding jeans and I've narrowed it down to 3 pairs. The criteria was they had to have tall sizes, sufficient Kevlar covering, and preferably knee or hip pads. The 3 pairs I'm looking at are:
-sliders 4.0 ridin jeans ($80+$15)
- agv sport Corsica Kevlar jeans ($100+$15)
-rhok jeans($180)
I really like the rhok jeans but they're expensive. Can anyone put their input on which they'd choose?

I can tell you I have a pair of Sartso I ride with all the time. I did a slide in them once and the denim wasnt even scratched.

I have a pair of Draggins Ive never worn

I don't know about the other brands , I just went out and got the Rhok's.. Gen 3's... They are good! All I can say is try em all on and the ones you like get them.. The Rhok's have Pekev they say it is better than Kevlar... Not sure if you have watched the video on the Rhok's how they compare them to other brands over at their site  :dunno_black:

I'm always leery of comparison tests or results posted on manufacturer's websites, especially if there's no indication that an independent company/person did the testing.  :bs:  That said, I've read good reviews on other (seemingly independent) sites about Rhok's, but to get them to the USA is prohibitively expensive (exchange rate + international shipping) especially if you have any reservations about the fit.

I just bought a pair of Sartso Kevlar-lined jeans. Other than the style I bought has much wider legs than I thought they'd have (but easy to fit knee/shin/hip armor), they seem to fit well. They fit very well over boots and don't bunch up while on the bike. They aren't oppressively hot, either, when worn in 85+ temps (plus 60-70% humidity)--at least, as long as you're moving. Pay attention to the sizing charts for Sartso jeans, though, to avoid sizing surprises. In general, the listed size seems to be more of a "vanity" size or there is a jeans size conversion I'm not aware of between the USA & UK.

Thanks guys! I hadn't heard of sartso but I think I might get a pair if I can get a 36 inseam from them. They look alot like rhok but cheaper.

jdoorn14

IIRC Sartsos only come in about a 34"-ish inseam. At least, there weren't any length choices at the US distributor I purchased from.

@weedahoe
How come you never wear your draggins?

I have a pair of shift jeans that are my main riding jeans but I just had my hornee jeans taken up and on so they will be my main ones now as the shift ones only just have enough Kevlar to be considered Kevlar jeans. The hornee ones have alot more Kevlar in them. I would love to get my hands on a pair of rhok gen 3's. Spicy110 has a link on his videos thay you have buy for 30 quid (pounds) rhok gen 1 jeans.
Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

I got myself a pair of Dririder Kevlar jeans and they are so comfy.
The kevlar covers the front and side of the knees and also the  hips and ass. There's no armour inserts but t inside the jeans the kevlar is covered by felt padding and it makes them so warm and comfortable. I"m wearing them right now and I didn't even ride today.

I need a 34waist, 36 inseam. I talked to my parents and persuaded them to go half in with me. I looked at the draggins but the only style with a long enough inseam are $260 and that's too much for me.

Get rhoks then. Great jeans that many motovloggers wear and promote.  :thumb:

The Rhok's are quite a stretchy jean, (very comfortable) so if your a 34 the Rhok 34's will be bigger , simply because they are a stretch type of jean...  I'd go down a size of what your normal jeans are, but it's your choice, if you go the same size they'll work too , just might have to wear a belt to hold em up while off the bike.  :)

i wear black jeans with FULL kevlar lining ... they are good and comfy ...

from this mob, who are closed for holidays right now!, but are running a winter special ... $99 for any kevlar pants plus postage!!

http://www.starider.com.au/

they are in Melbourne, Australia ... if anyone overseas wants some pants or whatever, and the winter special price means you can afford the postage ... get them shipped to me and i will on-ship to you for whatever best price it can be done for ....

they have a website size/conversion chart also...

they also do cargo pants and camo pants and blue jeans etc ... far as i know all pieces are full kevlar lined, i've ridden in about 38deg Celcius days and 2deg Celcius nights (ok i had a pair of lightweight thermal pants on also at night) ... and remained comfy temperature wise at all times...

they are good!!!

They sound good...

I just went out and got me the Rhok Gen 3's after doing quite a bit of research of different types of jeans and riding pants...

Cost didn't worry me...

I really like the way the armour fits and is so easy to remove, specially the knees having the zip design...

BTW..

I don't get a penny from Rhok or even a free pair for my promotion of their product...

Just my thought of what I think of em.

i'll have to check out the Rhok pants too.... while i love my current black jeans from the mob i posted about... they have that one style of jean in a size that fits my .... errrr.... solid build!! ... so in fact i have 1 pair of riding pants that fit me....

got old motorcross style pants from 20 years ago... and if i get a running start and jump just right i can land and squeeze into them now! :icon_rolleyes:

want more pants with kevlar so have some choice in the matter occasionally eh!

also... i get nothing from Starider either.... i do know them from a bike forum years ago and they are 'good people' ... its mainly their pricing for fully lined comfy riding jeans 'on a budget' that i like!  :thumb:

Janx...... Would you mind taking some pics and posting them of those from Starider? Shipping from AU doesn't bother me and they sound nice. I've been looking for some urban camo jeans
