So heres what happened. A couple days ago some a$$hat decided to hit my bike with his truck. didnt notice any problems till today, when i parked my bike at another friends house. at first it was running okay, but then when i parked it for a good hour, the headlight and tailight wouldnt turn on, and the bike wont turn over. i tried pop starting it and it was struggling alot and the headlight was flickering as well as the speedo/tacho lamps. any thoughts as to what the problem is? BTW i charged the bike about 4 days ago on a trickle charger.

*UPDATE* it was actually a blown fuse. For those of you with the same problem, check your dang fuses!! mine was the 20v on the right side next to the battery. If you see this metal ribbed thing, thats the rectifier. from the side view, it is literally to the immediate right of it. u should be able to tell by seeing the spare fuse just hanging out.

Any fluid in the battery?

+1 ...

Might have drained a bit or more than a bit out while on its side... ??

just woke up. i had the bike on a trickle charger all night. yes, theres fluid in the battery btw. anyways, battery is charged, but when i go to start it up, theres still no lights, and i tried to pop start it and it was barely staying alive (bogging, jerking like a bucking bronco, headlights flickering). i am very frustrated at this point...

Fall on the left perhaps ?
Or did he hit it on the left - @ the engine case ?

You may have a dislodged alternator rotor.

Cool.

it got hit from the left, and fell to the right. the way it hit the sidewalk may have damaged the rectifier but i am unsure. All i know is that i put the key in, turn it on, and no headlights, tailights, or even blinkers will come on, almost as if it got completely disconnected while i had my bike parked.

You check the fuse ?
Other electrical connections including the key cylinder (where you put the key) and the starter and kill switches.

I was thinking the alternator rotor may have got dislodged - its mounted on the left side of the engine case. In front of the countershaft sproket ...

i was actually thinking the same thing while looking at my bike earlier on. after the first reply u gave me i decided to look at my bike one more time. I remembered my old auto 101 teacher telling me that if the vehicle doesnt get any power, check all connections and most of all check the dang fuses. I finally figured out where the fuse was and swapped it out with the extra that was on the side, and then i turn the key in the ignition and BAM!!!! The sum b-word turned on and fired up!!  :woohoo: Still gotta give you credit though cause u thought of it too.   :thumb:
thanks buddha!!!
