Is my frame petcock ruined?

So my 93 was cutting out when the frame petcock was turned to on, and when I put it on pri it works fine.  I decided to take the frame petcock off and check it, and when I unscrewed the 4 screws it would not want to split apart.  So I finally pulled real hard, and it looks like the gasket is shot.  What is my best step forward from here?

Also looking over my carbs, I noticed this problem:

Can this be fixed with jb weld or what do I even buy?  It's not even on a the carb diagram on bikebandit.

That same thing happened to my left carb. I ended up just buying another set from a junkyard. If you don't want to buy a whole set, I can sell you my extra right carb. I'll send you both because I'm too lazy to separate them, but I'll only charge for the good one. :D

I am sitting here just cursing, so frustrating >:( >:( >:(. Got all my stuff in to rejet and get the bike dialed perfectly, then the petcock problem comes up and now this.

Next time use old fashion gingham checkered tea towels instead of those white with red stripe ones from Ikea :thumb: :thumb:

Man I dont know how you would fix that. I imagine it can be fixed.. but if it goes out on a trip, or will you have that nagging feeling its not really fixed?

The only difference on the right and left carbs (while sitting on bike) is the left has a vent to the vacuum petcock.. the right carb is blocked from the factory. FYI.

I think your carb needs replacing. The broken tube is a passage for the "starting circuit" aka the choke.

As for the frame petcocks, good advice for people is do not do what you did: do not take it apart.

The real dirt is in the tubes and fuel lever. Remove the front metal clip and pull out the cone shaped fuel valve. Clean that and the passages then put back together.

I've cleaned a few that way. Never had to separate the halves. That only gives access to the rubber diaphragm.

A little gasket sealer and put it back together. Probably you will be OK. Then remove the clip on the front, remove the lever and the cone shaped valve and clean it out there.

Haha I have so many of those ikea towels, what better excuse to use them than to check out some carbs/get the soaked in gasoline in my apt?

Hmm I tried searching how to check a frame petcock after the bike would only run on prime and it seemed like tearing the whole thing apart/getting a new one was the only way to go.  Hopefully someone else who has that issue comes across this and will not tear it apart like I did.  I will do the rest of what you said though.

I will get a new carb, but is that tube used for anything but the choke?

That tube is just the choke feed.

keep in mind the left carb while on bike has the open vent for the frame petcock, while a right carb is blocked.from factory. I have not checked how its blocked so it may be a plug you can get out, not sure.

Just when your looking for a replacement something to keep in mind.

* wow double post. I had sworn I wtote that last night but.didnt see it today. guess thats the trouble with browsing on a phone. Dually noted....

I would try some JB Qwik Weld or fast setting epoxy on that tube first. If it doesn't hold, all you lost was a few bucks

Well some good news:

The JB Weld quick setting works great, and there is no are leak at all on that part of the carb, or any part for that matter.  I will still replace it with a new carb though.
I re-jetted to 140/40/ 1 washer 2.5 turns on the air screws with a lunchbox and the bike sounds great.  The lunchbox gives it a nice throaty sound.
When I pulled off the tank, I realized there was like half a gallon of gas in it, which probably was the issue in the first place, not a bad petcock.  But with new gas and the petcock re-assembled there seem to be no issues so far and no gas leaks.

Bad news:
I still have a hanging idle/bike hangs at around 3k rpm sometimes.  I raised my float heights because they were too low before, they may still be low but I haven't checked them yet.  I know there are no air leaks, no cable issues, etc..
I am thinking it may be a valve, and the po had no idea when or if they were checked.  So I think that is my next thing to do.  Maybe I will try a half turn out on the air screw first after confirming my float heights are okay.
