im at office and not near bike...

was going to get a motobatt yesterday or this morning but turns out no local supply at moment... 'shoulda been here last week mate'  :icon_rolleyes:

... i know there are a few other AGM batteries that are available ... Deka being one brand ... but while i brought the old battery with me to fiddle with for the day ... i didnt measure the internal side to side dimensions of the battery box on the bike... didnt need to cos i know a motobatt fits!? .. sigh ...  :icon_rolleyes:

anyone got a handy tape measure and can measure the box for me??

cheers if you can!

ahh k... nearly forgot i only posted the result in LPW thread ...

found a few places that HAD some motobatt stock ... but none with the required MB10U ... last place i went to DID have a SSB (brand) VB10L-A2 .. which is also a AGM battery

http://www.sydneymotorcyclecentre.com.au/batteries/68-vb10l-a2-ssb-powersport-battery.html

not from that shop but same same .. and only $2 more locally for a total of $89.95 ...

it reports as 235 CCA ... which should be enough  :icon_twisted: as i beleive the older lead acid one had 160 CCA

.. the dimensions are 'a mickey hair' larger on this new one than the old one... but will fit easy enough  :thumb:

.... a note from the bloke i bought this battery off ... he said that yes they did have some motobatt units there .. just not my one... he also said that over the last several years they have been happy to sell motobatt ! ... but sometime in the last 12 months the australian distributor man has changed .. and the new bloke is quite hard to contact .. with only a mobile phone number now...

they hoped the new supplier would get it together again and they could re-stock .. since they do have a lot of requests for the motobatt's ... they only really started getting more of the SSB brand in because of the supply issues..

i'm happy enough for the moment... will fit it in this arvo and give updates as any positive or negative or terminal battery issues/reports catch my attention (ahhhahhhhhhhh pun intended!!!)  :icon_twisted:

instant edit.... sigh  :icon_rolleyes: .... i will say that while the terminals look a normal size... the screw/bolt and backing plate to go through the leads and into the terminal are SMALL ... i think i am gonna have to add a washer under the bolt head for sure!!

EDIT 2 .. in fact .. so small i wont even bother with looking for a washer... so i pulled the old (good condition) bolts and plates out of the acid battery and put them straight into the new one... whilst having the new one right on the edge of my workplace maintenance bench ....

.. which is why i can NOW ALSO REPORT!!!  .. that a SSB battery will survive a 1.3metre fall onto bare concrete with only a tiny ding in one corner ...  :technical: :icon_rolleyes: :2guns:

i really hope its ok when i mount it in the bike.... cant see why not... but ...
