After a bit more research my issues seems to mirror this one exactly:

long story short is that it seems the solution may be that the carb breather hose is clogged causing both bowls to over flow, not caused by the "sticky" float needle.

Im at work so i haven't had a chance to work on the bike yet but should you be able to breathe through the end of the hose without any resistance. I can blow through the gas vent hose no issues but if i try to blow through the carb breather hose its very difficult, is this the issue?

Shake the bike on the center stand ... or hit the float bowl with rubber screwdriver handle.

So i removed the breather valve and cleaned up the float bowls when i got home. There was a bit of gunk where the needle goes up into the carb and the piece that it goes into was not seated properly, that is what i believe the issue was is that it wasn't seated so fuel was seeping out along the side.

I cleaned it up and reassembled the bike and drove it into work today with no issues whatsoever. idles right at 1200rpm even at every stop light. Another contributing factor i believe could the the heat and humidity, that past few days have been in the upper 90's with 85-100% humidity.

Either way I'm glad the issue was what appears to be a quick fix without going into the shop.
