GS500 2014 Calendar - Send Me Your Pics!

mister

I'm putting together a calendar for 2014. The pic for each month will be of a GS500. Nice background, nice bling, by the water, by a tree, by a sexy girl, basically whatever you think will make a nice calendar pic. Will be made into PDF for peeps to print themselves at home. But I need your pics.

Obviously with only 12 months only 12 pics will be used. But get your pics to me. Send them in a message - just like putting a pic into a message on the board, or send me the URL to the pic on Flickr, IMGUR, Google Pics, photobucket or wherever your store your pics online.

I dont want to thredjack but I was just thinking about this.. To the point I was in my car yesterday and was thinking I needed to PM John. We can set it up to actually have any income go to the site to help support it.

You know you can put out a real calendar and let users order it if they want, with no minimum orders. Its doable through lulu.com.

A few auto forums I have been involved with have done this for years.

Here is a quick rundown of how one site does it.

Not sure how serious this wants to be taken, but we should have plenty of time to do this for the 2014 calendar and release it in December of this year for purchasing. LULU.com typically prints and ships within 3-5 days of ordering as well..

The cost has always ranged from $ 19-21 (US)  for the calendar as well, just to give an idea on the price. I am sure they ship to Australia as well, or maybe there is a site that will work better, not sure.

Hey guys,

PLEASE READ EVERYTHING IN THIS POST! PLEASE FOLLOW THE RULES re RESOLUTION AND CROP. When you take the pics, don't zoom all the way in....leave a decent border that can be clipped to fit the pic into the calendar frame. Shoot for the bike being 75-80% of the total frame.

Rules:
-No driveway shots
-No clipped shots (missing front wheel)
-No shots that take up 98.5% of the picture frame (the calendar formatting clips a bit off)
-No wash buckets, stray dogs, soda cans, dog poop, pizza boxes etc in the shot.
-Use a decent camera! Point and shoot cameras are great nowadays...make sure resolution is set to MAX

Minimum Photo Size/Resolution: 2272 x 1920

Submission Deadline: This thread will be closed on 11/23/13

How to Submit: Post a smaller preview (1000px wide) or the link to full sized image here if you wish....but PM me with a link to the full size image OR email the full size image to XX DO NOT POST 2200px wide images in this thread.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
1. 2272 x 1920 or larger images are way too big to insert into your post. PLEASE!...JUST POST A LINK TO THE IMAGE.
(host your images at imageshack.us - photobucket.com - or email it to me first, I'll host it, then I'll provide you with a link so you can post it)

2. No photo-chopped images (unless it is a minor touch-up)

3. No images with date/time stamps or watermarks.

4. No images that were blown up to meet the minimum size requirement.

5. No basic driveway or parking lot shots. (meaning: my bike is parked in front of my house...with a LeSabre in front and a Spirit in back...lets take a pic for the calendar) Please focus on composure. We had some great ones last year!

NOTE x2: To allow for trimming, PLEASE be sure that your bike is centered in the photo!!!

Please go out and take new pics...we have found that 'old pics are never as good as shots taken specifically for the calendar etc.

This is NOT a good calendar pic

This is a cool pic, but zoomed in too far. Once printed, the front of the black truck will be clipped and the back will be right at the edge of the paper. NOT GOOD. Give a little more space.

See what I mean? It may look 'ok' here..but I've learned that once it prints it will be clipped even closer. Give me a little extra space.

Just a thought mister if you want to make the real deal we can hang on the wall. I have a few from this other forum and they are legitimate.

Again not trying to threadjack, but I would be down to help you if you would need in any way I can, and if John is on board maybe we could turn this into a legitimate way to contribute to the site?

If you prefer I delete this post, let me know. No problems.

we have all seen the threads in here even.. where so many people say "hell yeah thats awesome!!" .. have a selection elimination process .. a final cut list .. poll for overall winning 12? ... unless thats getting too democratic!! ..  :dunno_black: :thumb:

.

Yeah thats how the other sites have done it.. actually is narrow it down to 24 by the users.. then the guy putting it together (mister/John, etc) make the final cut and put the calendar together. So its not until it releases that people know exactly who won and what month.

Again this can be done any way deemed here, I just wanted to throw my experience in from what I had seen in the past. Plus its really cool to get a legitimate calendar.

mister

Great enthusiasm Snake.... now send me your pic!  ;)

Far as I'm concerned, no rules for pics. Each extra rule just becomes another obstacle to discourage someone. It's hard enough getting pics out of people here at all, without making them jump through extra hoops as well.

And before getting all excited about revenues and LuLu et al, how about I get something done, first, fair enough?

Voting on pics to create a shortlist? Um, the way things go around here, the total submissions would equal the shortlist. Cross this bridge when I come to it. Though I'd rather it be a complete surprise  :thumb:

Addy, you ain't gonna make me go through all your pics to select are you? Can you make a short list  :icon_mrgreen: (I Will have a look, though, there are some corkers that come to mind. :thumb:)
