Hey guys!  Been a while.  Since selling the GS500 to my sister I have become a track junkie, did my first track day in November and have done 8 more since then.  :cookoo:  I have an '04 GSXR600 street bike and an '07 SV650 track bike now.  Anyway, my sister's bike needs a new battery.  What is the best battery deal on the net for the GS?  Thanks for the help.

Hi there,

I think these are a great  deal.
No maintenance.
Inexpensive.
Free shipping.
No more vent tube or filling it with spring water.
I wish I'd have bought one sooner.

Do a search of the site. Lots of happy users here.
Good luck.

Best wishes,

I went with adidasguys advice on getting the shorai battery. Much more expensive though but fixed all my startup issues compared to my cheaper battery.

I'm a fan of the sealed AGM type batteries. Will never leak and higher CCA than the stock battery.
Positive starts in cold weather are a definite advantage  :thumb:

Had my Motobatt MB10U for nearly 2 years now and going strong :)

I got 7 years of service out of the OEM lead acid Yuasa in my '05 V-Strom....it did require a $19 battery tender to do so, granted I really didn't answer the question, what I am pointing out is another way of "doing the math"  :thumb:

Hey guys,

Looking at possibly getting a new battery for myself & was checking out the Motobatt as I heard a lot of good things, however, I came across http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/showthread.php?26095-WARNING-Motobatt-batteries-are-shaZam!. (& i think i read a couple other sites)

Can anyone give some feedback on  whether they've heard Motobatt being not very good lately ?

I have read many reports on forums posted between 2010>2012 with good feedback.. just seems 2013 reports not so great...

Thanks for the tip on 'Scorpion' I'll check that out (not sure if there's a AUS retailer), but any other brands for AGM batteries ? Shorai seems a bit too pricy for me.. :\

Motobatts quality ... Dunno ...

Was talking to a few different people when shopping locally for one the other week though ... The Aussie distributor bloke for motobatt has changed either late last year or early this year ... And it's a shocker trying to get orders filled for shops that want to get them in.... Can only imagine that an individual sale would only be harder!! ... I did look on the Aussie website too now.... The only way to contact the fella is his mobile phone number..... Which at the time ... Rang and rang and rang etc!

Might be the bad service and or support they referring to now?

Shops aren't getting them in as there's not enough people requesting them ??

not sure about Motobatt service now, but in the link above they were talking about how Motobatt has been leaking.. unless quality has decreased (different manufacturer?), haven't seen a good review posted in 2013.. only pre-2012.

Any other decent manufacturers making sealer AGM batteries ?

I ended up getting a SSB powersports VB10L-a2 ...

Same as in pic but just from a local shop .... Only 2 weeks ago? ... So no long term info yet ... But I love it long time already!!

And was just looking at another thread couple mins ago.... Am SURE it's the same thing as the Scorpion battery that gsJack and others use.... Just different naming for Aussies

235CCA !!!! You know you want one!! ... $90 seems to be the price online or in store  :thumb:

though it says 235CCA, have you tested or read tests that show it does have true 235cca ? I've read that some batteries will say in the specs that its does a certain #cca.. but won't actually do it :\

Janx101

... Sigh ... No not tested .... Anyone want a test? ... Good ... Go buy one of these batteries, put in bike ... Test! ... There we go!  ;)

From what I recall of putting in the lead acid one previously .. Yeah memory fades I know ... But this one cranks better , so far with this new one .. it's press starter, chiggachigbrrrm ... Lead acid was press starter, chiggachiggachiggabrrm ....

You wanted info on other agm units that people have ... I obliged ... Others may also ...  :thumb:

Still quite sure that its the same unit/different country as the powersports scorpion that our beloved old timer gsJack and others use ... They love them ...  8)
