I already have the new oem studs, i havent had time to take the old one out, im not going to put reg bolts in, the ten dollars it cost to do it right i well worth it. i just havent pull a stud before from an engine block, i have drilled and used a not-so-easy-out with success before. just wanted a heads up before i have it apart. also i thought that the threads are oposit on one end of a studs vs the other end so you dont turn the stud out when loosing the nut?

i just replaced one of my studs that broke, they were ~$1.50 a piece at my local bike dealership. both ends are right hand threads, one end just has a chamfer on it and the other side is square i believe. i just put 2 nuts together and used the outer one to put the stud in

Broke one off last year, but after doing some research on here and what not I managed to get the stud out using channel locks and other methods. Was a bit of a pain but I got it out and replaced it with a hex head bolt from Lowes much more durable.

They break because people think the nuts have to be bad-ass tight like a side case bolt.
They need to only be really really snug. There is that o-ring on the cap that makes the seal.
I go hand tight until I feel I could get it tighter if I tried hard. That's tight enough.

I think it was over torqed from before, i was only using a 1/4 drive with one hand and my wrist doing the torqing not my arm. it shouldnt be the end of the world. i got three new ones to put in all the old ones are coming out.

If the PO did it, then it makes sense to replace all 3 of them so you know they are good.
