This is really aggravating. I have a prime membership with Amazon. I placed an order on the 20th and needed it to be here by today. No big deal, 2 day shipping (guaranteed) takes care of that. The item did NOT show up as promised on the 22nd, tracking information had not been updated/was unavailable. So I called during my lunch break and spent the better part of 30 minutes on the phone with some guy that barely spoke English. He tells me the carrier is unable to locate the package. Then the guy tells me that the only thing he can offer me is a refund to my gift card and have me re-order it on Monday with 1 day shipping. Uh, no thanks? That's the whole reason why I chose "guaranteed 2-day shipping." I even asked "Well, what about having it delivered on Saturday?" to which he responded "That option is not available."

I know stuff happens but seriously... At any rate, I accepted the refund. It took all night but I finally got my refund this morning. So I went and looked and LO AND BEHOLD, guess what? Saturday delivery is available. So I call them back, explain it to them again - this time I got someone who spoke English. So they upgraded the shipping free of charge and that was that; should have been delivered this Saturday.

Well about 20 minutes ago, guess what shows up? The f%$king package! So, wanting to be honest, I call Amazon AGAIN and tell them everything. So what they did was cancel the order I had just placed, refunded the money, then they're going to RECHARGE me for it in a few days. What kind of bullshit is that? I mean enough is enough! At this point I should've just been issued a refund or some sort of compensation for their screw ups. I got my package but that's it. I've wasted 2hrs waiting on the phone.

Oh well. I guess that's what I get for being honest.

5-6 years ago, dell did the same thing to me ... almost the same thing ... with a projector ...
I got 2 for the price of 1, but I had to return the bloody thing twice with it not working ... the 2 I got were both refurbished ... and I have run them hours and hours a day, for 6-7 years and 2 moves ... and they still kicking ...

Strange, but since the projector was $900+ ... I guess I am ahead.

i mostly have nothing against overseas persons of that extraction... but i run up against this dilemma with phonecalls also... they speak poor or broken english .. but think in their language mostly... and no matter how bad it sounds... the thought process does not translate well... as i see it anyway ...

business advertising this year is case in point... its a big bill .. around $20k .. have been keeping up with the organised payment plan... but constantly get reminder calls before due dates from broken english contractors asking could i pay whole amount.... its  payment plan!! ... but it takes about 10 mins per call to get them to comprehend that whatever they think their screen is saying .. i am on a plan... not behind and to be chased up! ..

'ohhhhh... i can see that now sir... i will make a note!' .... reckon they should have looked at all the info before the call!!  :icon_rolleyes:

... ordering things like Kij has and having it messed around by lack of understanding by contractors' "accounting staff" ... that would have me going Gamma!! ..  >:(

the companies may be making a huge cost saving with their cut rate contract staff ... but the customer service perception takes a savage beating!!  :dunno_black:

I deal with microsoft nearly daily ( usually activating a windows install. call sounds like india tbh as are most call centres) gal answers on third call after being hung up on twice, " says in broken english " hello Ithank you for calling microsoft product activation centre. im easy ( i interrupted and said, i bet you are) her name way she said it sounded like easy. took 20 minutes for that hassle to finish.

Just had a TV and some cables delivered to my parent's house.  Tracking showed nothing for days, then today, updated with delivered.  Sometimes package tracking can be a bit wonky.

Yeah John, same thing happened with a package for me this week... Basically showed acceptance and nothing for several days... Package show up and then everything is there on track hours after packages arrives.

Specially with usps lol. fedex and ups usually pretty good. i sent a package to australia recently and once it left miami, the tracking stopped. until it hit customs/cleared.  via australian post.

Well, a little update here:

I had to write an e-mail to someone saying it was OK to charge my gift card for the original item... What the ACTUAL f%$k? Seriously. Making me do even MORE work on top of what has already happened? I understand they have to actually have my consent, but I already gave them permission over the phone when they asked if it was OK to do that.

I wrote a colorful (no cursing or disrespectful language, just made it obvious I was unhappy) e-mail to Amazon's customer service department. I explained the entire issue. I doubt anybody gave a shaZam! but they did actually give me $20 to use towards my next Amazon purchase (only valid for items sold directly by Amazon, not orders they fulfil).

Even though I went ahead and wrote the e-mail about it being okay to charge my card, they still haven't charged it. Maybe after I wrote the e-mail they decided to let it go. As well they should. At this point I shouldn't be having to work so hard to correct a mistake that was ultimately their responsibility. What should have really happened was when I called about the missing package arriving, is Amazon should have been like "I'm very sorry for all the trouble you've had to go through for nothing. Tell you what, we'll just cancel the order that's about to ship and you can keep the one you've got."

Yep, made a big issue out of a tiny one is what they did. That above is how it should've gone, and if anything else needed to be done, it's on their end, behind closed doors, and you don't hear or participate in the rest of the story... End of story.

Don't get me wrong - I KNOW it's not Amazon's fault that the package got dicked around with. They cannot control what happens with the package after it's in the carrier's hands. However, they are responsible for how they treat the customer after such an event occurs and what is promised by Amazon is not delivered (i.e. the Guaranteed 22nd delivery).

At least I got some money out of it, and with any luck they cancelled the charge-back.

I usually wait a couple days past when I expected the item to arrive. Usually it is no more than a day or two late even if the shipping information was never posted. Once it arrives, I call and Buddha Loves You about the time it took to arrive. That's usually good for a credit/shipping refund for me while they file a claim with the actual shipping company.

I have an Amazon Prime membership. 2-day Guaranteed. It's free, but you have to PAY for the membership. How could they have refunded the shipping when it was "free"?

idk where you live BUT, in most cases if youre sent something you didnt order, you CAN keep it. this is kinda in a loop hole if your morals allow you to keep it, go for it. OR you could send one of em back, get a refund, and have a free one. your call :)

I ordered it. It didn't show up when it was promised to show up. Carrier "could not locate package" so they refunded. I re-ordered after I got the refund then the one that was "lost" showed up. Called back and they cancelled the one that was about to be shipped. Then they want to charge me for the one they refunded me for to begin with.

Sorry. thought you ended up with 2 of them. i had that happen with a logitech g5 mouse. stll got the one in the box. trying to figure out how to send it back. w/o an RMA. spose i could just google the addy lol. My morals prohibit me from keeping it lol.

Well they asked if they could charge me again for the one I already had (that they initially had refunded because they thought it was lost). I told them it was okay but they never went back and charged my gift card for it again. So I guess at this point there's really nothing I can do.  :dunno_black:
