My question is about the ignition of a 1990 vs a 2004 GS500 engine (the 2004 has a different ignition rotor)
Can a 2004 engine run on 1990 electronics? Or what do i need to make it work?
I'm planing to buy a 2007 engine with 1992 stage 3 jetted carbs for my 1990 gs500.

Motors are the same.
Put old timing pickup and rotor on new engine and it will run.
You should swap carb boots, too. And when you do, put new o-rings in them.
New motor does not have tach cable output. You will need to get a newer electronic tach. When you get it, we can help you connect it up.
Don't toss the newer rotor and timing pickup - many of us here stockpile spare parts.
Your old motor probably can be parted out.

...I see - if the engine already has the carbs on it, then ignore part about swapping carb boots.
