Ok I watched that video twice and I'm pretty sure that guy had at least 500rpms or so before he hit the beginning of the redline. According to Keith Code in Twist of the Wrist 2 for every 500 rpm you go up your speed will go up between 5-7.5mph (pg. 29) .  So basically does this hold true as you get up into the redline as well or do things like valve 'float' start to affect the response.

valve float is well after redline on damn near all engines having valves. valve float is governed by spring tention and cam lobe profile.  with beafier springs you have to start using stuff like titanium valve keepers and harder valves and seats to handle the hammering. on chevys, one has to use threded rocker studs.
Accelerate like your being chased, Corner like you mean it, Brake as if you life depends on it.
