Just got a nice clean '00 that's lean as hell (no surprise) I want to raise the needles, but when I pull the slides I can't see how to remove the needles. I have these odd shaped 'wing' slides, and some sort of plastic clip on top. I don't want to get in there and bust anything. How do I release the magical needle clip/plastic thingy?
Thanks!

The Buddha

Neelde nose pliers and a lot of wd 40 and gentle wiggling would get that plastic plug out, slow and careful, there is a spring under it ... dont lose it. There is also a washer under that spring just above the e clip, you can put that under the e clip for starters ...

BTW its an 01 and later carb, not 00 or earlier.

Cool.

Thank you! Plate on bike shows manufactured 11/00, title lists it as an '01. '01 it is I guess.
I like the spring top to bottom idea too. After spending most of my time wrenching on full fairing 4 cylinders, this thing is soooo easy to work on! Take off the seat, tank and airbox and you can reach everything. Like it!
