Bicycle value question

I had a novara racing bicycle I picked up a few years ago somewhere (yard sale or scrap yard dont recall just now) and It languished in my storage a few years. Then a couple weeks ago I decided to ride it ... and found it freakishly painful. The shifter in the front forward tube and the torture rack position ... not for me. Mountain bikes with finger shifts are bad enough I thought.

Ok so its not even shifting too well, there is general rust on a bunch of spots ... but it is a cr-mo japanese 24" bike, araya rims and shimano components. Pretty decent ...

I put ad for 50 on craigslist ... and got 10 responses, and not many said is it still there, will you ship it to nigeria for cashiers check ...

So I sold it for 50 almost the same day.

Did I price it too low ... I mean, no question of getting ripped off, I paid pityfully little for it, it was of no use to me and I even asked for a mountain bike as a possible trade, or a kids mountain bike, nope, the buyer paid cash ...

So - did I not squeeze the last $$ from it. How much was its street value. It had a good many rust spots on the frame ... cables were dead too, but the rest was aluminum, and hence very decent.

Hmmmmm perhaps sold to cheap. things arent common. BUT if you made a profit, then there you go :), ill look it up and see
http://www.ebay.com/sch/Vintage-Cycling-/158999/i.html?_nkw=novara&_pppn=r1&_dcat=158999&LH_AllListings=on&LH_Complete=1 yopu may have sold for too little. BUT as a parts group i think thats where the buyer made out. perhaps as a restoration.

Maybe ... maybe not, that last one was $45, and was in 1000 times better condition than mine. It even has grip shift ... mine was also the full size, not as useful IMHO, I didn't fit on it and I am the tallest one in my family.

He he ... you got video ? rim coming apart from centrifugal force gotta be something.

This guy had an araya aluminum rim set, shimano components, but its shifter didn't work or was stuck ... I do the crap to motorcycles, but I would have got frustrated and broke the thing trying on a bicycle.
